    I need teh help....

I'm new at this whole private server thing (though I have played on 'em)

first of all, which is the best (by "best", I mean the most customizable, and/or teh least glitchy) kind of server; ManGos, Antrix, Ascent....are there more than those? I'm really confused -_-

I know how to make a server (kinda), but how would I make one specifically for a local network? 4 players online tops...

also once I have one established it, how do I customize it? put new items and crap?...ugghhhh...

so I'm really asking for an extreme tutorial on the matter

A long debate came from these kinds of topic but i will resume. For me I will go to Ascent, sure it has a lot more bugs many, many quest will not work, some revs are very unstable and etc, etc, but his one strong points for me is that it can handle very well the phisycs of the terrain. In Mangos this is a big issue, mobs attacking from nowhere, and every now and then you will see mobs getting under the textures of the map, that something i cant bear with. Begin Ascent with repacks of stable ones when you get confortable switch with trunks and finally edit your database with your needs! I said finally because is a little complex in the beggining but if you have ever see databases SQL querys it will be smooth if you have any question regarding the structure of the database just visit or google for "ascent wiki", good luck also visit the official NCDB forum at Next Chapter - Community Forums
