International ban filters

i got an idea...

is it posible that me and some guys create a website where (registered) server admins put in there IP's of serious server abusers into a database, and that other (registered) admins get an email every now and then with the latest IP's of people that where banned of some serious misbehaving...

then i thought if a few admins put in those IP's and a few server join that list then we will have a strong Anti cheat comunity. and we will have a strong weapon against cheaters...

also i got some idea with the registering system...
when an admin tries to register with the database he needs to fill in his nickname, password and Server website, forum etc.. after that me or someone else who has IP list admin rights has checkt the website that admin registered with, and found the Admins Email adress we will send a email to that adress. If the admin replies with the correct activation code we know we got the same guy...

i hope this can work because it will make the servers connected to the Anti cheat network a lot hacking and cheat stable. we will briong the cheaters a punch in there face:punch:

I like this idea. I really really do...

But sadly most of the cheaters, from what i have noticed, either play at internet cafe's, play with dynamic IP's (which change every time they connect to the internet) or they use proxies.
Your idea will however, take care of a lot of the cheaters.

We really need a better ban method. The IP ban just isnt as effective as it used to be.

Im not sure but I think a ban of the PC's MAC address would take care of proxy users, and dynamic IP users. There just needs to be an implemntation in the core allowing this information to be gathered i believe.

As for the cheaters who use internet cafe's...this is a pain.
I just ban the IP range when they start jumping from PC to PC.
for example if someone is cheating at IP 33.44.55.666
I would ban 33.44.55.6*

All in all though, I think we need a way to ban the computers MAC or some other address.
The internet cafe's will still continue to be a headache though until someone compiles a list of the IP addresses of all the internet cafes in the world :P Or just figures something else out.

is there any way to ban the mac adresses????
becuase you will not be able ot find them easy or is that jsut me...
But if you can ban the mac adress in that database it will be perfect...

Its possible.
A long time ago when i used wowemu with LACD it would display the connecting computers MAC address in the server console window.
All we need is the Core to have implemented a method of obtaining the connecting MAC address,and read/write to and from the database. And of course the database will need to have the corresponding field(s) that the Core will call to read/write bans of the MAC address.

we could also ban on hosts adresses wich would make it already harder to go around it, it wont be extremly tight but it could work
