It is a matter of personal preference. Both exceed at doing their jobs well they just have different directions and methods of development.
MaNGOS is far more developed and more things work (still no Mind Control though which sucks)
Ascent is far more stable/many players etc, is great for funservers because its low resource and u can spawn every gameobject what u cannot do in MaNGOS (only small shit like chairs ...)
they both suck :/

Well evry emu is difrent and it is your personal taste what you like so dont ask me becose i think they both ok however mangos have 2 db's in development where mangos has none open source db .

Ascent is good it is not the best atm. Realy the truth is that it is mangos why :
1 stable
2 small quest movies working
3 blizzlike db
4 basicly more working than ascent.
the only good thing of ascent is it can hold 1000 players thats the only posetive atm.
and indd for the bugs thats why ascent team is there for solving 1 bug creating 20 new ones :D
I find mangos better, only because I can't get my ascent server to work :D
mangos can spawn more than just chairs the first server i ever played on was mangos and it had the well commonly used project silvermoon fundb at that point in time.
And it can hold lots of players i was on a well populated server get all your facts before you dis mangos there pretty good the only real problem is a 2.4 server only works with 2.4 clients which sucks if your players want to update there wow.
And ascent i don't like the fact that the channels don't switch when you walk into a diffrent zone your still technically set for the first zone you were in from when you logged in
All Emulators Have Small Bugs here and there
