Can you put the query that was in here to fix the npcs back?
Hi im having the same problem as some of the other people here. im running ascent rev 1621 (have tried 1604 also...thinking about expanding on other cores) and ncdb...everything appears to boot flawlessly but when i get ingame i have no npc's or mobs. ive tried using the preload server option in ascent.conf to try and force the loading of them, but that will just cause my core to crash when i try to load it. Any ideas are welcome and greatly appreciated.
insert all this, it worked for me
it's just the thing posted yet but run it in order.

Thx ;)
OK i attempted to run those queries but the creature/character ones would not run because the tables are apparently missing some columns...so is there a fix to add the columns or do i just need a new DB...if so could somebody link me a known good version of NCDB.
Edit: Nvm i got it working by updating my NCDB via the SVN with ascent core 1621 and it seems to be running stable. But now i have a new issue, i have the server set up to be accessed over my network and my other computer is able to connect and login to the game...but when im using that remote computer im unable to turnin quests while when im on the computer im running the server on i can turnin quests fine...any ideas?
I have the same problem as Shadowmourn,couldnt find a solution i downloaded latest ascent version Ascent1648 and db from another db link cause this wont work but i cannot get this to work.It works fine with old ascent1036 with terra database but not with new stuff.What can i do?
I am a noob and am running rev1595 i had the same problem then i noticed in the ascent.config that i had
<WorldDatabase Hostname = "localhost" Username = "admin" Password = "****" Name = "ascent" Port = "3306" Type = "1">
<CharacterDatabase Hostname = "localhost" Username = "admin" Password = "***" Name = "ascent" Port = "3306" Type = "1">
Then i changed it to
<WorldDatabase Hostname = "localhost" Username = "admin" Password = "****" Name = "ascent" Port = "3306" Type = "1">
<CharacterDatabase Hostname = "localhost" Username = "admin" Password = "****" Name = "logon" Port = "3306" Type = "1">
Then my chars showed up. Don't know if that helps you but like i said i am a noob to all this lol
duskfall, there are 14 database sql updates between 1036 and 1603.
after executing all of them, your server will run fine.

Ok I can log in nicely with Ascent 1595, but I cant select my own realm!
And my ascent.exe automatically shuts itself after a few seconds.

# This directive controls the distance (internal yards) that the player can "see" up to

# Increasing this number will also increase the servers bandwidth consumption and CPU usage.
# Default: 80

# This directive controls the limit when update packets will be compressed using deflate.
# For lower-bandwidth servers use a lower value at the cost of cpu time.
# Default: 1000
#
# Queue Update Rate
# This directive controls how many milliseconds (ms) between the updates
# that the queued players receieve telling them their position in the queue.
# Default: 5000 (5 seconds).

Define you can log in nicely...im assuming when you say you cant select your own realm that you mean you have an empty realm list to choose from...in which case your realm isnt working/online. This would make sense since your ascent.exe isnt working/online...if it closes in any way, shape, or form whether it be automatic (crash) or because you exited it (shutdown) your server is not active and therefore cant be selected from the realm list. My suggestion would be to make sure all of your usernames and passwords are correct and that your mysql is up and running in the background before you try and start loginserver and ascent. If that doesnt do it try to replace those .conf files with the defaults/originals and only replace the usernames, passwords, and IP's required for the server to connect in case you accidentally changed one of the other options. If that still doesnt work try different cores of ascent...some are unstable for people and some arent...its kinda random. Also make sure you have a stable DB.

OK heres an update on my quest problem. After some testing and tweaking, ive managed to figure out that its only a specific type of qst that wont allow me to turn in from the remote computer. Any quest that has a "continue" page where when you first talk to the npc you have to click continue after reading some text, and then you have the option to complete quest, is broken, though my quest IS complete and there is even a yellow ? above the quest giver for that quest, the continue button is greyed out. But any quests that just have the straight "complete quest" page where right when you talk to the npc you can click complete quest, work fine. Any ideas on this? could it just be a client problem that im getting and its not the server?
