i highly doubt that. I see no reason for blizzard to license out their serversoftware.
Its impossible to buy legal licenses for Illegal software like Ascent, so there is absolutely no way that you can get a licensed wow server. If someone sold you an Ascent license, sorry, but you have been scammed.
well legally you can license Ascent as it has been done alot of times, However you can't license World Of Warcraft's copy written data as in the DBC, MAPS, VMAPS etc. But since Ascent is not using any copy written data from wow its legal they only provide programs that will get the data now that makes it illegal to host.
So, if we find something to replace MAPS,DBC's,vMaps etc, we will be able to run WoW server "Officially"?

phil is correct. The server files are not illegal. Since they are not stolen, they are coded.
What will be illegal, is using THEIR client, on your server.
They have, terms of use agreements, yada yada yada. So, You will never be able to 'officially' and 'legally' run your server. Unless, you make a client that you fully coded, nothing stolen from WoW.
