    MangOS connection speed requirements

    Hey mates,
I have a quick question for everyone. Let's say I'm starting a MangOS server that I want to have a user cap of 150 people. What connection speed (upload) would be required on the server side to support 100 WoW clients at once. (I.E. What is the upload used per non-idle client).

I hope this question was asked clearly enough, Thanks for the help!

    1-2 kb/sec for a client and 5 kb/sec per 10 clients. So 100 clients:
    1,5 * 100 = 150
    10 * 5 = 50
    150 + 50 = 200 kb/sec upload for 100 clients...

I'm a little confused on your math.

if it's 1.5 kb/s for 1 clients and an additional 5kb/s per 10 clients. Wouldn't the math be:

    1.5 * 100 = 150kb/s for 100 clients
    5kb/s * 10 groups of 10 clients = 50kb/s

For a total of 200kb/s to support 100 clients?

Uhm.. I guess I just answered my own question... Thanks mate.

So let's continue to further answer this question.

Fact: There are 8 bits in 1 byte.

    200 kilobytes/second = 1600 kilobits/second

    1600 kilobits/second = 1.6 megabits/second

So to run a decent WoW server, you need to have at *LEAST* an upload speed of 2 megabits/second and have a usercap at 100-110.

Someone please tell me if my math is incorrect.
