What port are you using? I tried with FileZilla, and this is what I get:

the ftp server program allways says that the user is "online" and hanging on..
but there not..

yes, me with telnet. But, I get disconnected with FileZilla...
FileZilla is not that stable, FlashFXP are the stables one ive try'd so far..
