Noobzor in need of help
Just downloaded this server bundle to install, and the tutorial only covered as far as setting up the Mysql, i've managed to figure out most of the rest, but when trying to log into the game on my server hosted on own machine i get the message
''Unable to validate the game version. This may be caused by File corruption or interference from another program........''
any ideas on what the fix for this is? gladly appreciate any help i can get.
thanks

Re: Noobzor in need of help
You're using an emulator not compatible with the client version. For example if you're running Mangos 2.1.1 server, your client needs to be at version 2.1.1.

Re: Noobzor in need of help
Sorry about the threat title, and im still lost as to your explination, so if i let u know what i am using, maybe you can point me in the right direction (im completly new to this and this is my first attempt)
i downloaded a Server pack from a link a friend gave me, i installed the MySql Data through Navicat, following the instructions of the in-package video, i set up and account in the MySql. changed my Wtf folder in WoW directory to match the Server's and tried to connect,
is there anything else i should be using?, you spoke of a client?
thanks again, Silk
*edit*
Just found out that the server i downloaded and installed was 2.1.0, dont know if this helps

Re: Noobzor in need of help
Firstly we'll need to know what Emulator we're using, Mangos, Ludmilla/Kobold, Antrix, and if preferable what version it is.
Also the client is just a name for the World of Warcraft.exe, On the login screen in the bottom left it will say (Example: Version 2.1.2 (6803)). You need that number and the number of the Emulator you're using to match.
P.S. Everyone finds it confusing when they first start

Re: Noobzor in need of help
ok, im using Antrix Emulator, dont know how to find which version, although like i said the server pack was called ''server 2.1.0'' so my guess would be 2.1.0?
and the Login screen did indeed say Version 2.1.2 (6803), so how would i find the Version number of Atrix, and how would i make it match the 2.1.2 (6803) version of WoW im running?
(and i can understand why, only wanted this for some offline class testing :O, it will be worth it when its done though, and thanks for the help i really apreciate it)
*edit*
''Antrix 2.1.0-202'' is the version stated at the start of the antrix startup

Re: Noobzor in need of help
If the Antrix file was named 2.1.0, it's 99% for V2.1.0
Right, your client is actually ahead of the server  so what you will need to do is go into X:\World of Warcraft\Data and delete Patch.mpq (and Patch-2.mpq if you have it), after that go back to the World of Warcraft directory and run Repair.exe, choose Check & Repair all files, it will say WoW has been damaged and needs to revert back to a previous version. This will revert it back to 2.0.0.
After this you will need to download the 2.0.0 > 2.1.0 Patch...
If you're using the enUS (American) client, use this link
If you're using the enGB (English/European) client then use this link

Re: Noobzor in need of help
ok, i'll give that a shot now, the Download of the patch seems to be taking ages though, (GB) wouldnt it be faster to download from blizz....no wait.... *giggles*
Seen as someone is acctually helping me, i was wondering if i might be so bold as to ask another Question, about instances, is it possible to get them up and running? only as far as Karazhan, so its not a super recent content i mean, i have absolutley no idea what would be involved in this, i was just wondering if it is possible

Re: Noobzor in need of help
Haha, well it's possible since I've seen posts about instances such as The Black Temple being spawned, but how to do it, not a clue :icon6:. I'm sure there will be threads lingering around the forum on how to do it.

Re: Noobzor in need of help
yeah i guessed it wouldnt be easy :/
one last thing, this resorting to another version of WoW thing, its going to interfere with switching back to the normal wow (eu) servers isnt it?
so i'd be better off making this a copy of wow (change directory name ect) and reinstalling a fresh copy for use with the officeal servers right?
or would waiting for a new 2.1.2 server make more sense?

Re: Noobzor in need of help
Yeah it would interfere, if you've got Hard-Drive space then I'd suggest (before repairing) copying the entire folder and just pasting it to a new directory. Then down-grade one WoW and leave the other at 2.1.2 ready to play on the Official servers.
Not worth waiting for though since Official goes through patches at a rapid rate
