I have seen WAL in action and have to admit its quite good, the coders know what they are doing but its a different beast to everything we use here.
Its anti-Mangos in a sense, everything is locked down. You pay the authors for a subscription to join their server. In that sense they are quite advanced as they have multiple realms and servers hosted online.
Essentially doing what blizzard do, which is why the WALemu team got their hands slapped by Blizz originally.
Well thats my 2 coppers on the whole matter. I think the whole emu community is very much in its infantile days. The private groups with their paid for servers are ahead in that sense as they have controlled release schedules and lots of testing going on (something the Mangos team is trying to do with their development program) plus a wealth of data to use in their emu's in made by scripters etc.
I feel Mangos and other emu's have progressed quite well but what they lack is good solid data. Lud, Mangos or whatever emu you use, they all suffer from the sameting. Most DB's are incomplete, the world is broken and allot of game features simply do not function properly.
I think what the community needs is a group to go off and just fix the current problems and then release something. Doesn't matter if its a few releases behind as long as the core content works out of the box. Then the community can build on that.
SDB has done the right thing but again the database is far from complete resulting in a emu that feels incomplete.

I compiled it and ran it, debugged it and all it does is respond to client logins etc and thats it.
I am assuming its missing scripting, ai, map control etc?
so the emu is empty ...
