i have downloaded repacks and they work, minus a few problems. I got a server running from the updates here but none of the class trainers would work so i uninstalled everything and started over and now i cant event log in because my sql files are not in order... sooooo my question is will someone post a tutorial (or link to one, that i couldnt find with search) on how to (using the files here) setup a server with the latest files.

i setup mysql (working fine)
i setup sqlyog (purchased)
i setup navicat (purchased)
i made character, and world databases
i rightclicked character and imported (2.3.0 charecter full)
went into NCDB1025 setup the bat with my name and pass
ran it and typed w and waited then exited

then i unziped sql.rar and imported every file in the character folder, all the login files, and all the world files to character and world databases in the order they were in the folder.

setup my .conf files
launched the server ... voice>logon>ascent
got sql errors, missing a field.

obviously the upgrading the sql files is my problem, i cant find any tutorials on UPGRADING from 2.3.0 character and ncdb10XX with the new sql files.

Please HELP!

How about you tell us the errors, instead of just telling us you had some.

The error i got from sql was about a missing field...a sql update fixed it.
now i can login and create a character and i even fixed the trainers, not that i could tell you how.... but it was after i updated to DB1030
how ever when i highlight a NPC (any) the cursor disappears, when i walk near a mob, it used to pop up the bar near their heads with name and health, now it doesnt.
lets start with those.
My main point for the post was not fix my issues, i know the reason for the issues are my lack of knowlage in the subject of HOW THE HELL DO YOU UPDATE SQL FILES after you make the DB's character and world and import the 2.3.0 charecter file and run the bat file for the world DB. how do you use the sql update file in particular, what do you do with it... are there sql updates your not suppose to import, like the convertion ones? etc.
i unzipped them then imported them all except the myisam and innodb ones.
is there and order, are there ones you import to both world and character, are there ones you dont import, are there ones you import last, how do you know which ones are right for your server?, etc.

well 3 for 3 i have answered my own questions...
sql update are easy, only apply updates the have a higher bild number than the origonal you installed as a base. so if you have a build of charater data structure above 3461 you would use any of the update sql packages, same with the world patchs.

better description on the ascent wiki... READ THE WHOLE WIKI ITS AMAZING.. i went from noob to Educated about this stuff in 3 days from the wiki.

i now have a fully functional
ascent core 3510, NCDB1030, with collision (holycrap vmap extract)

only issue i have now is some quests are borked... i can deal with that.

my suggestion is to compile from scratch that way you understand the file structure and what files do what.
