I dont think that many hosts will allow it, if they do, you would use to much resources when your server gets big and they put a boot up your ass.
no support?. it's proven it is as bad as it can be, so don't even think about it.
because it is so bad, almost no one knows how to do this, or just don't want to spend useless time to something that won't work :)

virtual private network will only give you virtaul network, that means that your speed will not increase (maybe 5% imporvement). When you have people accessing your server using virtual network, it will use your own connection speed of your ISP. it will not increase according to your VN, it will varrie accordingly to your ISP service provider.
On another hand Dedicated servers are functioning of thier own internet connection which doest change due to your ISP.
