[Question] Updating Ascent
Okay well I am using Ancient Ascent, Rev 2527, NCDB 691. I see thre is so many new ones out there. With Flying mounts in Azeroth, LUA enabled (don't know what that is), NCDB+Moonscript (Once Again No idea but apparently it makes bosses work?), my question is this. I saw a guide to update ascent. It was very simple I think. All I have to do is download the newest compile the newest NCDB and thats it. I just start those up instead of the ones I am currently using? IS that all it involves? And now for the other question......I have ALOT of cutom mobs and Items and i mean a nice amount. So if I download a new NCDB database and execute it......well do they just *Poof* disappear....I mean how can I save them?
From using search I see that I should EXPORT my databases save them to my desktop or something then just reexecute them into the new databases? Is this how it is done? Isnt there like table and column changes with newer revision of Ascent or am I COMPLELTY off? Can anyone shead some light on this please.

Re: [Question] Updating Ascent
To update ascent: Update your ascent svn then compile the file in the win and scripts, same as you did when you first installed ascent, if you did it the real way.
How to update ncdb(database), you can empty your world data base ( You will lose custom stuff) or run the changedlogs.
Or if you don't compile your own you can downloaded files and just replace em with the old ascent files

Re: [Question] Updating Ascent
Yep I did it the fake way. Lol I am trying to learn how to compile but I get so confused when I go to the sites that are whats called i think SVN? I don't even know what that means and I wouldnt even know what to download. But i do have Visual Studio 2005. :)
So basically ur just saying go to thos threads that have aScent Revision so and so or NCDB so and so. Now you said that my custom stuff wiould get wiped rite. I did create batch files for all my custom stuff but could I jsut exectue them or when I update the database it may change the whole structure of the database like an extra row or extra coloum that hte previous one didnt have? Therefore making all my Batch files preety much uselss.

SVN (Subversion), is a really smart way to do things, in my opinion, and a lot of others, since most use it here.
What it does is, it lets you automatically keep up to date, downloading from their SVN repository, and it just replaces or adds files to said folder.
You'll need a program like TortoiseSVN.
