[Question] What is the best server?

I'm looking for a best WoW server for Linux/FreeBSD.
Can you write advantages and disadvantages of different servers?

I can only tell you from my (very) limited experience with *nix that anything you run in a Unix based OS is going to be more efficient and more secure than any MS operating system, as long as you don't do it the easy way and run the windows app in WINE, and instead compiling your own binaries against your kernel.

If you are big into Linux you will have no problem doing this, and you should definitely always use Linux for any server software.

My problem is I am not experienced enough to use Linux to compile and configure the server software, but if you are VERY comfortable with it, run with it.

If you can't get a *nix flavor to work, plan on buying a nice system with lots of RAM to run your server.

Few weeks ago I compiled latest Ascent on FreeBSD 6.2.
But there is a lot of bugs on client version 2.4.0
I need stable server without bugs for *nix based systems.

Shouldn't be much to convert over, as for wanting 2.4.0 mine is stable but its in house beta only right now. Server in fact is closed to the public temp. Maby I can help with some of the errors you get with your complies.

I had no problems with compiling. Only bugs in game, such as trainers...
