Question: Whats the difference between Ascent and Mangos?

I am new in WoW private server stuff.
Out of curiosity what is the difference between Ascent and Mangos?
I would also like to know which is better Ascent or Mangos?

Well, I'm not so sure either, but I do know that ManGos is currently working on WOTLK Private server while Ascent isnt really, (I Think) but otherwise I'm not so sure either and I would be curious also =]

Both are based on WoWD, although much have been rewritten, mangos still suffers from the wowd performance...or the lack of it.

say what? if you mean how you can check what emulator a server uses, try to login and it should display a greeting or something...

Actually biggest different in script system.Mangos scripts have alot more progress,then Ascent,but ascent make alot work in core.Actually ascent much better in fun servers,but dont have enough support for make it blizzlike.

Wcell,Kobold, also there are SpuriousEmu and many emu's which are in Develompnet...
If someone Givmes me Wcell repack i'll be very glad..Where Was Mangos and Ascent When 'Kobold aka 'Ludmilla' Had 1.12.1 Rev lol,easy scripting with pythin with many features and high performance...many say's it's sucks because it's closed source,but it's simple developers just protected their Project..Here why Ascent Sucks...Ascent was closed for 1 month,and Wholla Arcemu,Aspire and many many things...

kobold is closed source and spurious seems somewhat dead these days.... WCell repack? no need to make a repack...just get the src from the svn, compile it with vs 2k8 c# express, pop in the ncdb and there you go...instant repack :X

yeah it's closed and their are protected their project....you should see their changelogs

I'm gonna say Mangos because from what I know, or remember, Ascent kinda, came out of development hell a couple months back... so....

My experience is that I've been able to compile Mangos as opposed to Ascent and ArcEmu, with 0 errors, everything works w/o a hitch... And Mangos is much more stable and has little glitches... TBH you can also make a funserver w/ Mangos if you put effort into it, which many people are not willing to do... :P

Ascent makes new releases fast, but takes a while to become stable.
Mangos takes a while to release but releases workable servers.
Also the scripting pretty much, i knew a guy who had an ascent server and he done a lot of custom stuff, but it wasn't fun to play if you wanted to play "WoW".
Trinity is the way to go for mangos, Love the stability and it offers a huge amount of customization through scripting too.
Also has almost daily updates.

So it's realy what you want.
WoW server -> Trinity mangos
Fun custom server -> Ascent
