    Receiving connections from Blizzard?

I was just hosting an antrix server, when i noticed about 30 or
40 connections on the logonserver. All of them said "killing
connection due to inactivity" So i decided to trace one of
the ip's and this is what i found -

    ISP - Blizzard?
    Is this normal?

Just curious..But why would blizz go after an antrix server specifically? And not one of the many others?

I have no idea. But thats what i got, im guessing since it was maintenance day, they were checking registered user's IP's for bots etc.

they go after antrix cause this emu can host more ppls than mangos.. like 3000 or more..

they dont want to wait until antrix gets more stable to shutdown the servers..

blame the client...it seems that everytime a client logs onto somewhere, the realmlist is sent to blizz, and some bots sends alot of auth challenge requests...

That was my impression too; f.e. client always connects to bl1zz for realm-status & news.

Where you running server & client on same machine ?

If its true that blizzard tries to shut down servers.
I would use my own server just for additional LAN Parties.

And im bad at hosting internet stuff. :sweatdrop

    Re: Receiving connections from Blizzard?

It would seem to me that any remote attempts by blizzard to shut anything down is illegal it would constitute them port scanning if you change any ports etc which in its own is constituted as internet terrorisim since 9/11. I portscanned someone after 9/11 they reported me and 3 days later i had 2 secret service agents at my front door with a cease and decist order to serve me.
If noone believes me I will blotch out my personal info and post a link to the C&D order from my photo bucket.
Illegal server or not they HAVE to go through the legal channels to shut you down I.E have you served by someone licensed to serv you etc they can't just send a letter threatning you or else a lawyer could have a field day with them. I mean hell its illegal for your ISP to give out your private info without law enforcement being involved.
Serously look up some of this shit blizzard thinks they can push people arround because the money they make they make what millions a year people still buy their games still register them stil play the registered copies they can blow me off when my friends an I get our server up.
I already have a lawyer incase they do send threatning letters or remotely force DC people from the server or force the servers down remotely internet terrorisim baby gotta love our gov rules they still apply to big corps too why let them get away with it!

    Re: Receiving connections from Blizzard?

LOL...very true, also in Europe it's not allowed to enter any alien network without permission.

PS: I play on official AND run my private server simultanously from the same PC.
for more then a year now
