    Router problems .. I think

I just hosted a server, I can connect to it just fine but my friend cannot. I realize that I am behind a router but I have no idea how to fix it. I have opened some ports but Im not sure that im doing everything correctly. I have searched the forums but I cannot find anything that helps :(

If anyone has any advice on what ports to open or how to allow someone to connect to my server.

    Thanks, BT

Is there any way to go into my router and allow only a certain ip address to connect (Friends IP)?

    Think this belongs in tech..
Anyway, goto your isp website, they will show you how you manage your router via a webpage.

From there you can forward ports, and set up access for ip's ect.

From what I gather the Lynksys routers are not that secure.
But here is a website that might help you:
    Configuring a Linksys Router
It contains information on how to configure it, depending on the routers model;)

For now this is all I can do, if the guide don't help you, then you will have to look around google for a guide for your model of router:)

He said he went to his isp's website, and they normaly provide that service to them, via an easy http/ftp login style managment system.

But then again, you do get the type of isp's that don't give a ....
And looking at the routers company website for an pdf would indeed help too:)
