    Post Server OS?

I've just got a couple of questions about the latest WoW servers.

I was around when WoWEmu was the mainstream server, then the other one called YY... something, but now I come back to see Acsent and I have no idea what it is.

So, is Ascent the new mainstream server software? Replacing MANGos?

And my main question is, what platform does the server run on, I don't plan on running it with a Windows server, but rather a more stable system-linux.

What server software is available for *nix OS's and how do they perform?

Both Ascent and Mangos run on both Linux and Windows.

I don't really like Mangos; it's been a while since I used it.

Ascent performs well... and everyone claims the design of its core makes it faster than Mangos.
The developers of Ascent use Visual Studio, but the code has never failed to compile for me on Linux (except when I started screwing around on it :P).
