updating the SDB

I started just yesterday running a WoW server, chose Mangos and followed the guide posted by kiasta. Only the revision was '2452' and I'm trying to upgrade to 2631 at the moment. I downloaded the binaries and overwrote everything, I extracted all the maps from the WoW game folder and put them in the right folder. Also updated the DBC files and ran the SQL updates from that revision to the 2631 ones, no problems there. I could start up the server fine and all, so that was okay.

The only thing that's bugging me at the moment is the Silver Database thing. The version packed in that guide was 0.5.1, and I noticed being a 0.5.2 version which had 'rev272' or something in the name as well. So I just thought I'd make a backup of the old database and export the accounts/characters with MDH (latest version). Did that, dumped the old mangos database, ran the new mangos.sql file that was about 100 mb. (Because I couldn't find how to update the data in it..) After it was done I wanted to restore my old characters again with MDH only it gives this error : ' #21S01Column count doesn't match value count at row 1 '.

So I reckon that mangos database's structure is out of date, but I don't know what to do now exactly? I was thinking about running all the sql updates, only I don't know from which revision I need to start.

And how would I need to go on with this in future updates?

And btw, what exactly is that Silver Database thing?

I ran '2622_character.sql' and that fixed that error with the collumn count, only I'm wondering what sql updates I need to do more? And now I've got a syntax error in the mail thingy because I used '<3' in one of the mails and it won't restore now.. urgh.

SDB 0.5.2 rev 272 is effectively the silver database supporting up to mangos rev 2578. So if you start off with a clean 0.5.2rev272 you need to run the sql updates up to the version you have (2631)

Okay, thanks that'll help alot ^^ I'll go and clean out the database again and run all the updates from that rev on. And about the syntax error with <3 I'll just remove all the mails from my other backup and make a new account/character backup of that version lol.

Now I only wonder how can you see which revision belongs to the SDB file?

And if I can use the SDB svn patches to update from my current version which will be 0.5.2 then to higher (when they come out) without harming character/account data?

and is SVN repo still at https://opensvn.csie.org/SDB/ for SDB files or not? Since it seems to be unreachable at the moment, but that could also be the server..

When sdb's are released, they'll make note of the supported version. You will get the most up to date SDB info and guides on their official forums:
