Basicaly anyone with a connection to the internet can host a server but to sustain a large community then you wil need something in the 256kbps upwards to 6mbps(which i have). I first ran my first private wow server on a 166kbps connection which worked ok for me and my friends but noone else or it lagged out to death, so i upgraded to 256 which gave me roughly 15 - 25 players below 300ms in game(this reads higher by roughly 5% of the truthful reading) but you can host with lower if its a small community.
hope it helps.

10 mbit can hold a nice community. 100mbit is normally only a $10 upgrade and is DEFFINATLY worth it.

I'm doing a completly hardcore check.
my "testsystem" is a win2000 using 400 k6-2 DOWNCLOCKED to 250 Mhz with 196 Mb Ram. It does run not only mysql, but also mangos + realm. While playing with only one player, I get an latency of about 4 ms and a system usage of the server between 4 % and 10 %. And I will check and try with more ppl.
I know its complelty out of mind, but I really wanted to know, how far I could go down with mangos - and still have normal usability! And as you see - it works. Well - I'm looking forward to check with more players on the server - at the same time.
see ya.
