Why dont you people just pay

people these emus suck plain and simple...

ive been playing the real WOW servers for about a year but got so damn tired of it, so i tried out some of these privat servers for fun but cmon!! soooo many bugs ..sooo many noobs (never played the real game) ..and sooo much waste of time! even though alot of work have been put into these projects they still suck! anyone with half a brain knows that this is a (Raiding) game, and the privat servers just doesnt live up to what the game is all about ...

go pay for the game and play it to the fullest (not these crapy emus)

We all know the official servers are technically better in every way. But private servers are a way for those younger people or people with no jobs to experience quality pay 2 play games. As you see alot of young people don't have money to pay for online games.

I play on officials too but in my country there are no WOW, no support, No everybody has $70 to start playing (CDKEY) and more $15 per mounth not either a contact to get the Key, And it is a absurd to pay per mounth it don't give me anyrhing in return I just pay to gather information to my server And I like to have my server and make the players in it happy =).
And about your RAIDS there are server that can handle up to 1000 people with 40 men raids.

Hah, good luck with that, they're making more money than Oprah with this game, 4 million players, $15/month, the uptime and maintenance fees on this paid for themselves about 8 months in, everything now is pretty much gravy, and there's never enough gravy .

I heard they don't let you use the auction house and mail in the demo, what the hell's that? AH is what kept me playing on the official servers for the year I did.

There's more noobs and 12yr olds on free games or private servers. P2P is a better choice if you want to avoid immature little children. :P

well, the price for a monthly subscription is quite high calculated in my country's "monetary/living" rate. you don't usually spend 5$ per game and now you got to pay 10x. but if you got a good job, you can afford such games. and I personally for playing in OFF servers only, unless the private servers got off files.. ;)

I've played WoW since Beta, I've always liked it, now it's about the Legendary and Epic equipment raids. Slowly im growing sick of it, when I found there was a way to Emulate WoW and host your own server, I was like "Yeah that's what Im talking about" It's more about individual creativity and what we as users of the emulations wanna create on our servers, some wanna expand on the game and include material B!izz just doesn't wanna include, some of us wanna hack and slash and take out frustrations of not being able to do so due to nubz and flamers on official servers.

So yeah I believe it's more like expressing your imagination.

Hey does anyone know how to get the MegaGameObjectsPack to work? I installed it correctly and nothing will spawn after I use .respawnall and .info to make sure it's distance and gameobject code is correct.

Btw Emu's are great for countries with shitty internet like here in Iraq, and other soldiers besides myself wanna play and build on our server, so it occupies our downtime instead of fighting like 3000ms playing on official servers.

IVe played on official, WoW, Lineage II, Guildwars, and a slew of others. The reason I quit and came to private servers..

Official servers have a population of 30-40% farm bots , 50-60% eBayers who feed those bots, and support ingame and out that'll make you want to wrap your mouse cord around your own neck and pull. Sure finding a private server with active GM's isnt always easy, but when you do ask a GM for help on a private server Its not gonna be a Macro response like almost every official server GM provides. Private servers imo have better support and a better community than the officials, shit just go browse ANY official game site forum for an hour and you can see that im right.

Official servers have just as many younger people as the private realm, if not more based on the population. Official servers have plenty of bugs as well, just look at the patch notes.

Private and Lan servers are buggy sure, but you get what you pay for. Its expected. Ive seen what the official servers have to offer, and the grass isnt greener as you seem to think.

this guy is a moron to go posting here...spoiled 12 year olds!
Redsl i agree...private servers are only the same as the officials once were...but private servers don't have giant companies with a lot of money to research WHY the bugs are there in the first place...you have more fun not worrying about getting this month's pay check than going and working you *** off on some rpg that ends up costing u maybe $250+ by the time u get that 1 player maxed out! come on...blizzard won't last forever (it may a while but NOT forever) and eventually you'll wish you had saved that money for something more productive.

Best thing about private is you can create your own content to keep you and others interested past level 60. Thats what I do, custom spells, custom AI, and custom areas you dont have access to on live.

PLus not everyone likes to HAVE to play countless hours and hours to get in a decent raiding guild, be there on time for raids things like that. People have lives outside game and private servers cater to those people too, by making content group orientated or solo orientated rather than raid style mobs.

Its really simple. We all know that the official servers are better in almost every way (stability, balance etc), yet we host our own servers. Why? Because we're able to modify things that arent possible as a regular player on off servers. The creativity keeps us going. And so does curiousity. Not everyone has a lvl 60 on the off servers. Its nice to check the new tier 3 items etc, on yourself instead of watching a bunch of screenshots.
    [imagine]
By playing private servers, we keep developing and reporting bugs to developers which will, in the end, perhaps, in a far far future, in a weird way become just as good as the official servers. And (if we're lucky) blizzard realises this and lower their monthly fee to compete against the billions of billions of private servers out there.
    [/imagine]

There are several reasons I like emu's; although, I do pay for my account & play on it, as well.

    1. I live above the arctic circle & average latency is > 1200ms. Average latency on my server < 50ms.

    2. I usually just solo or join small groups; and, those are with just friends. After having played EQ & WoW the last 7-1/2 years, my tolerance for pick-up groups has dropped dramatically. Some of them are still fun, but, more often than not, I'm frustrated.

    3. I can mess with the content to my heart's desire. If I want different, more or less mobs, I can make it happen. I can mess with the code if I have to, and make changes that make sense, to me, at least.

    4. The coolness factor, alone, is worth it =).

So, I DO pay to play, and, I play on an EMU, too. If I had a Bl!zz@rd server closer to me, I don't know if I would be on an EMU; 1200ms is outrageous & frustrating, but, it's all I've got.

LOL, yeah, satellite connection; but, the damn ISP has some sort of packet filtering/restructuring rule in place that further adds to our slowness *grrr*

if you can get dial up, it will provide better latency for WOW, dial up is 4kb upload and download, and wow takes about 2-3kb you would prob ping 600 ish heh :D
