    ! WoWS CMS

    Heya all,

I've been working on a Content Management System (CMS)
for WoW Servers to be able to manage the server and it's data from anywhere,
if a computer with Internet is available, this way people that don't have knowledge
about (My)SQL are able to check certain things and create items and all kinds of things.
This is when the system is done, Currently only the Account,Characters and Ingame mails work, Though
i get new ideas all the time which i integrate, Currently working on In game Mails.

I'd like to know your opinion's about this project and hoping i can take advantage of these
feedbacks and improve it where needed, though it's only a demo no Live data is used.

The system is secured & dummy proof.

    WoWS CMS - Demo Login

As I'm not using any Live data, It's hard to keep developing and testing this project of mine,
I only have some characters and accounts in the database, there for I'm asking if any
server would like to use it for as far as the system is done, this will greatly improve the
    development of this project.

The only issue can be that you'll have to create a new mysql account, or let the system use
the root account or what ever is used, I can help creating this account with limited rights
so you can be sure that nothing harmfull can be done.

Use the WoWS CMS - About (Contact) page to get in contact!

    My thoughts on this:

    1. I will never let any external party have write rights to my database. I don't know how you get the notion nothing harmfull can be done with a limited account, the ability to delete all accounts on a server seems pretty harmfull to me.

    2. So far the only thing that seems to be working is account creation / editting, which is a good start, but MiniManager can do all that and a whole lot more already.

I couldn't agree with FragFrog more. In this case, i think people who would potentially use your cms system would want more control over the whole process. They want to control every single aspect about how their data is processed/stored etc. The risk factor is an obvious minus in this case so i'm not even going to go there, but another dilemma pops up. I agree that this would be a useful thing for beginners, but as you move on your needs grow bigger. What that means is if you're like me, you're gonna want to edit something eventually, add a feature or two to it. I have a website/server of my own. None of them are mine and i thought they would work perfectly for me. Well i was wrong. The website was buggy, many features weren't even working at all. The reasonable thing to do was to fix it all and i did. Needless to say it's a definite plus if you also count the feeling you've actually done something good/made something work.

The point to all this is, it kind of defeats the purpose of using this kind of cms. Not only does it not have too many features yet, it limits you even more by forcing you to stay within the limits of your programming. Now if you released the website in a way that everyone could download it and use it in their own machines, that would be different. Though now i couldn't even recommend those who are new to this whole thing to use it since they lose that precious programming experience. There's nothing more educational than the good old "do it yourself".

    Thanks.

    Re: WoWS CMS

There isn't currently any option to delete anything at all, the system would
currently only need, select, update and insert rights, it could do without insert privileges for now.

MiniManager is a Mangos based, Currently WoWS CMS is only ArcEmu based but will be expanded to all know emulators and databases they use in the end.

This system is mainly build for those that want the ease of having it shown in understandable language if you know what i mean, this way everyone could have access to the database without being able to do any harm.

Again it depends on the trust factor. In order yo even connect to their database, you would need them to punch in their host, username, password. From there, you can execute any query you want. Besides experience comes from messing stuff up and fixing it yourself too so i'd recommend people who are new to this to just stick with the old method. Sorry

Seeing that there are still daily visits on the Demo account it seems that there
are still people that like the system, or at least want to see what its about!
