About the AMD Phenom Quad Core 9600

I want to know if my motherboard can hold this CPU. I have a Socket AM2 mobo with a 4600+ AMD Athlon X2. Its a Foxconn 6600MA i think but i want to know if i can just put this core in. I have a 2x1Gig DDr2 Ram in and a 2600 Ati.

go on to the manufactureres site and check the compatability and the bios updates if in the bios updates it says new support added then yes its compatable but youll need to update your bios :)

kk ty ill look at foxconn and ermm i used sisoftware to check how many cores but it says upto 2x so i think i cant oh well np. Im wanting to get a cheep mobo for this CPU but dunno which ones will work. Any advice where to get one? :)

dont get any motherboard at all, according to amd they royally fucked up :) and i am quoting them.

thing is all motherboards that are am2 should have been 100% compatable with the new phenoms but they arent and most manufacturers arent even releasing bios updates to support them yet.

im personally really dissapointed by amd, i have been an amd fanboy for years (an entire decade now) and this is just shit. hopefully they will sort something out when the new motherboards come out with the all new socket :)

Im definatly lucky.. one of the few to own a Crosshair.. and that, along with another major brand name are he only ones tested that actually run a Phenom.. sorry for anyone else who isnt able to sadly :-(
