    Anyone here into....

Overclocking? Just wondering, if there's enough animo maybe we can start a SuperPI 1M contest? Personally i enjoy overclocking, it's just that my motherboard wont support a higher FSB ffs.. (430 is limit or something)

Edit: maybe eventually a 3DMark06 contest?

I think a wprime contest would be more in order. That can use all four cores on a quad.

Well, even if we do that, we still gotta wait for people to come.

lol a little off topic ne way on topic
I've over clocked myself but not much such as not even chnaging the voltages.
Well it ant worth it as it doens improve ne thing unless you really overclock by alot

Hah.. I think NoPeace might be up for astruggle ;) Only difference is, the brand of chips.. I've OC'ed mine as far as I can, only because the AMD chips dont OC all too well, as opposed to Intel chips.

    Re: Anyone here into....

Lol... When I OC I own. Back in the day I was in the top 20 for 3DMark 05 and 03. ;)

I loved my 4800+ and SLI 7900GTX setup. It owned when I was benching.

At the moment I pull 18k on 05 (which is low for some strange reason), 14k on 06, 60k on 03, and 80k on 01 (I hate tweaking for 01).

As for super PI 1m test. I've done it in 12 seconds...

    My setup is:
    QX6700 @ 266x11
    dual 8800GTX @ 626/1500/2000
    4x 1gb Cosair XMS2 800mhz @ 4-4-4-12

I run that as it doesn't heat up to much and is pretty stable aside from the GPU's over heating a little when it's warm in here. As well they are OCed to max for air on stock coolers.

My CPU can do 3.6ghz easy. Though I don't like to use a system with any voltage increase as it decreases it's life. So I have it at 2.93ghz since it's rock stable at stock voltage though I can do 3.2ghz on stock but I just don't trust it much as it's a 10% fail rate on prime95.

For RAM. I just leave it stock. Have had too many bad mistakes screwing with it. When I just bench I can push it to 1200mhz and 5-5-5-18 but I don't really want to do that as it's not 100% stable for normal use.

So I ether run it at 800mhz @ 4-4-4-12 or 1066 @ 5-5-5-15. Both are about the same but in games the 4-4-4-12 seems more smoother then the 5-5-5-15 but that is faster in benches. I could run 1066 @ 4-4-4-12 but again as I don't fully trust it to be 100% stable. So I avoid it for normal use.

So what I'm saying. If I really want to bench, my scores will be even higher. Though I don't care for benching at the moment due to needing my PC for school work. So I can't afford to have it to be the least bit unstable.

    NoPeace - out

    Re: Anyone here into....

12 seconds is a pretty nice score, my fastest atm is 15 second cause my cpu is "only" a E6750. Highest 3Dmark06 score i've had was around 12k points. I'm very surprised you only get 14k on 06 tho, you got 2 GTX in SLi, it should have a way better score :o. 2 HD3870's in CrossFire get around 18k points, and yes i know that CrossFire has a higher effience. But anyways, there doesn't seem to be alot of people here that are into overclocking :P

    Re: Anyone here into....

Its because SLI has issues with its benchmarking.. some bug in the software, Im pretty sure some later revisions will keep it going good for SLI folks. Its still high for that though =)

    Re: Anyone here into....

I've done SuperPi in 16 seconds with my E4500@3,51Ghz. But I can't OC any higher with stock cooling :( Also I've only got 2Mb cache which slows me down ;)

    Edit: As for 3DMark06 there is a test where 2 HD3870's get 28k+ :) That's nice!

Those scores are damn good for a GTX. Stock GTX SLI will only do about 11k-12k.

And with AMD cards. They are over clocked though AMD cards do better in 06 because they are optimized for it. My GTXs get owned by the R600 in 06 but in games they own it. ;)

Not really. Dual GTs still beat it and dual GTS 512mb really beat it.

    Forget about dual GTX/Ultra cards.

Though I'm sure that 3x and 4x setups for the 3870s will really own.

    I wouldn't mind getting 3x 3870X2s and run it in 6-way CF.

Crossfire only support 4 cores? And even less right now since they got driver issues for more then 2.

    Re: Anyone here into....

actually i really like that idea
cause were all on the same platform and it jus comes down to HOW far we can push them

or maybe P4 Extremes or... GPU OCing on voodoos
