The 8800 GTS is essentially an 8800 GT with a little more firepower; it sports 128 universal shaders compared to the GT's 112. It bests its 8800 GT brother, but not by much, and it's more expensive - in most cases the GT will suffice, but if you have ~$300 to spend, this is your card. At higher price points than this performance increases taper off quite a bit, and you'll only really see benefits at 1920x1200 or higher resolutions.

8800GT. Best ban for the buck in that range if you don't have have an SLI board. If you have an SLI board then dual 9600GT (same price as a single 8800 GTS 512mb).

I shouldnt advice SLI or Crossfire to anyone. They only big trouble, just stick with the single card. Better.

I've never really had a problem with it. Every once in a while a new game doesn't work with it but it gets fixed within a month and during that time you can just run in a single card setup for that one game.
Crossfire back in the first 2 generations was horrible but as it stands now it's even better then SLI which I am using right now on 2 systems.
Also you can't avoid it anymore. The next generation of AMD/ATI cards are all (but the low end) going to be based on multi GPU cores. The low end will have 1 and to up the speed they will be adding more. The high end will effectively be 4-8 low end GPUs together with more RAM.
nVidia won't be doing it with their next cards but the ones after it I'm sure they will be doing it to.

Yeah i used Crossfire, and some friends of mine used too. Nothing but problems with it. Those freaking ati drivers cause nothing but trouble, 3dmark errors and alot of other crap, to much to explain right now. Maybe i will when i feel like typing alot.
Now when was this? 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation Crossfire? I used the 2nd generation one with an x1900XTX and x1900 MC and it was problem ridden I would have to agree. It worked sometimes but most it didn't though from what I've read they have totally fixed all of those problems (thanks to AMD buying them and teaching them a lesson).
Though on a whole I've never really had a problem with SLI. Only one game that I've played didn't like Crossfire and that was Company of Heroes. It took them a few patches but it eventually got to the point where it's best to be played with SLI.
Hell I wouldn't dare touch a DX10 game without SLI enabled.

I run 2x ATi 3870X2 in crossfire and if anyone tells me that it aint bang for a buck and sure as hell good cards with decent drivers you better get a good teeth insurance.
