I prefer TFT-LCD due to they look cooler then CRT's and save u bags of room, i use a CRT at work and its pissing me off, but i'm getting a 22" wide screen monitor wen i get bk from holidays :D
TFT LCD.
Am using a 22" widescreen by Acer right now and it is orgasmic. Too bad I bought mine for around $300. Good ones are now often on sale for like $170.
There isnt much advantages to CRT there is like one or 2 but it doesn't make much difference compared to LCD
I used to love CRTs for the main reason that they have a better image quality, but I recently got a 24" LCD and I quite like it. I wouldn't mind using either one.
hmm suppose one thing is CRT screen can have a better life span
LCD displays have a longer life span then a CRT display. What CRT displays are good for are true colors. The best LCD displays can only do 95% of the color requirement for NTSC singles. CRTs do the 100% minimum and the good ones do it even higher.
Though I prefer LCDs. I've been using them for years now. In fact most of the displays we have in this house is LCD. We got about 10 LCD displays and 3 CRT ones here. This is including TVs.

Hmm from experience I've seen broken CRT screens they break in al kings of ways:
1. The screen going dark
2. The screen going red, green or blue
3. The screen going thin
4. The screen Flickers or moves (Really anyoing lol)
5. And finally the good old bang and smoke (No screen at all)
These are the only ones I've seen from a LCD
1. Flickering
2. Ghosting
3. Not working at all (In the same subject as band and smoke but no bang and smoke just not turning on)
EDIT: Anyone else got any experiences with broken CRT's or LCD's if so post them (A picture would be wonderful if you can)
Cheap LCDs tend to "bleed" out light where they aren't suppose to depending on the layout of the screen (newegg LCD reviews are a good place to look at for details). Some times they die pixel by pixel as well. You can attempt to cure it with a pixel massage, but I've never really had much luck in that. </end>
My screen has Burn in of Mir lol and Firefox but wen its been switched off after a while its not as clear
I havn't experienced alot of expensive LCDs but so far I still like my CRT best.
I h8 having burn in on my SCREEN lol
Well it disappears after a while i guess
Ill show u a picture of it some day
Depends. If it's a space thing then LCD, if not then CRT. CRT is always quicker, and like NoPeace said, CRT will show you all the colors, a good CRT will give you perfect black, but i haven't seen a LCD yet that can do that, and i doubt it ever can.
I love my 2 crt's :) they keep me warm and look great on all angles. and only cost me $14 :)
LCD , Low power use. Nice looks , SPace saver , Dosent make me sweat all day , Samsung.
Not good ones... cheap ones are for sale at 170 :-) You spend good money on good screens :-)
Biggest hnady part of an LCD is size and energy usage: Here is an image I spliced together with the last 2 man mini-lan I did with my brother over at his house. My screen: Samsung 226BW 22" widescreen (High Quality), and his is a 20" CRT.

hmmm you can really compare the size differance in the 2
that CRT weighs every bit of 60 lbs, as opposed to the much wider screened LCD, which weighs a quarter of that. I do have a couple more pictures of it.. but I deemed those two as worthy of putting together for it.
Go LCD unless your a photoshop editor.. then a CRT is your friend.
I like much more CRT than LCD.I've heard some ugly problems at LCD+that CRTs are much way cheap
What kind of ugly problems? I never had any.
I think LCD's look waay sleeker, but CRT's just seem more efficient to me.
BTW Sardaukar I like your brother's mousepad..
LCD's will never have a perfect black. Why? Because they use back lights to light up the screen. That is what causes the loss of blackness.
The only time you will get true blacks on a small panel is when the OLEDs come out as they are of a complete different technology which does allow it.
Not to mention they produce near perfect color like how a CRT does it and is only a few mm thick.

Thats where plasmas win there
But plasma screens can get burn in very easily.
What burn in you ask?
Where a image is faintly on your screen from displaying it before for a long period of time.
