Cydia cant download any thing yet network backed up !!!!!
Officially was released today over at evasi0n. Anyone interested in jailbreaking their iDevice? Finally, I have my phone back to my personal preferences instead of some bland Apple lockdown product!
Anyone here grab the new JB? Anyone here who's against jail breaking? What are you guys's opinions on this sort of thing?
People are still buying Apple shit? I thought people moved onto Samsung when everyone realised Apple can't innovate for shit without Jobs.
I heard a news article the other day that Apple is trying to make it illegal to jailbreak your phone....
'Jailbreaking' Your Phone Will Be Illegal After Jan. 26 | InvestorPlace
I am actually very keen on Jailbreaking it right now.. I've watched this video:
And it was pretty convincing..
Basically what I understood is: You and your phone gets free from apple's restrictions? Is that what Jailbreak means?
I have one question though, I can't go back to the way that the iOS was before Jailbreak, can I?

I tried jailbreaking a couple of weeks ago on my Iphone 4 tethered. Nothing worked. Tried Installous, infinifolders, iAP Cracker, etc etc. All it did was put my device into safe mode and crash my springboard. So I'm going to wait until everything works for iOS 6.
The only way to remove the jailbreak is to reset your device. You can make backups on Itunes but all your apps will still disappear.
I actually just jailbroke my iPhone 4, and installed Siri and everything, fuck it's amazing.. Why didn't I do it before :(
Jailbroke my iPad 3 iOS 6.1 rocking it ;3!
Yesterday cydia didn't work at all but now it's all OK!
iOS 5 and 6 are shit, I'm sticking with my jailbroken iOS 4 :)
Doing the jailbreak right now as I type this. (iPhone 4).
I've jailbroken all my devices.
EDIT:
Done a cheeky name change as well.
Jailbroke my iPod Touch 4..
Thanks for the video :)
Anyone know a way to download free apps? Just realized installous no longer works.
This might work instead of Installous. I haven't tried it yet as i'm currently making a backup and it'll take a while.
EDIT: Oh and you will need Appsync iOS 6. Links in description.

Found out before seeing this video, thanks anyway.
I'm going to sound a right noob now but what do you guys mean jailbreak iOS? What benefits has it given and does it allow free apps which you otherwise have to pay for??
As far as I'm aware I'm happy with what I've got but just wondering.
It gives you the possibility to change almost anything on your device. You can customize things and do things that you wished you could do on an unjailbroken device such as Infinifolders which allows you to have as many apps as you want in one folder, you access them all by scrolling. There's BytaFont which allows you to change textfont on your phone. There are unlimited possibilities. There are plenty of lists online with good apps. The only bad side to it is that it might make your phone a tiny bit slower but it's all worth it. I'd go all night about this but i'm on my phone at the moment and that facebook thing is annoying me.
Please note that the ones i mentioned are not the only good ones as there are thousands of extensions to make your phone look pretty.
I've explained this before, and don't mind explaining it once more for you.
Think about it like this: If you're going to purchase a computer, then that computer will be your personal property. You can do what you please with your personal property, because you are the one who payed for it, and it belongs to you. When you install Windows on your computer, the operating system does belong to you since you purchased it, but restrictions still apply since it's from Microsoft. These restrictions aren't as big as the limits that Apple puts on your iPhone.
For example, on your computer, you can download whatever you want to download. Microsoft won't be able to stop what you're putting on your computer, or producing for that matter. Microsoft won't be able to see what you're downloading, unless you make it obvious to them by publicly announcing it towards their media (which is very stupid if you're doing something that you aren't allowed to).
On the other hand, Apple has A LOT of unreasonable restrictions that apply to your iDevice (iPod, iPhone, iPad, etc.) When it comes to your Apple Computer, you can still do whatever you want because it's a computer and almost every possibility is available. But as for your iPhone, you can only go so far with your own personal preferences. You can set a wallpaper for the lock screen, AND your home screen, but that's as far as you can go with something along the lines of a theme. As for a computer, you can do whatever the fuck you want with your start bar, change the start text to whatever the fuck you want and essentially no one will care.
Apple doesn't like you to have your way with their iOS platform. They regulate what you do with your iPhone, not currently but with each update. When I say this, I mean that they predefine everything into their firmware so that it can only go so far with what you want to do with it, and then you simply just can't move on any further since there's simply just NO way.
Another example of this is the Finder on your Mac. You can crack Photoshop, or extend the trial simply by using Finder to browse through the root files of your computer. On your iPhone, no such thing exists. You can't access your iPhone's root files because Apple doesn't want you fucking with their shit. They choose what's allowed to be altered, and this only goes as far as your wallpaper and such.
JAIL BREAKING allows you, in terms, to do whatever the fuck you want with your iDevice. It turns your iPhone, iPad, or iPod into more of the computer. You have your regular App Store, which you can use to download free apps, or purchase paid ones. After jail breaking your device, you are given access to Cydia, which is basically the underground app store. On Cydia, you have access to a wide range of tools, tweaks, themes, games, and everything else that is useful.
A very big reason why Apple doesn't approve of jail breaking is the MONEY. Most of you know about Installous. Installous was a HUGE app that was only available to those who had a jail broken device. It was almost completely similar to the official Apple App Store, yet the only aspect that made it so popular was the ability to download almost ANY app that is available on the App Store, FOR FREE! It's similar to torrenting certain things. Apple has lost SO MUCH MONEY because of Installous, and other API cracking tools. They have a definite right to hate jail breaking for this, because if you didn't have a jail broken device, then you wouldn't be able to acquire these free applications for your device, which results in essentially stealing from Apple and every other developer.
Other than the piracy issue (which I could care less about), I believe that jail breaking your device shouldn't be frowned upon by Apple. They may say that it's unsafe, or detrimental to your device's security, but it's nothing less than how harmful a computer can be. The average person's excuse for not jail breaking their device is the security issue. When they tell me this, I briefly let them know on how stupid of an individual they are, because they don't know what the fuck to download. People who think jail breaking their devices is bad because of security reasons are the same people who click on ads in their browser like "You have one new message from SexyliciousBlackgirl". It's pure stupidity.
Bottom line is that if you're going to pay $500 for an up-to-date device that is YOUR property, then you should be able to do whatever you want to it without any restrictions whatsoever. The only, ONLY way to accomplish this is to jail break your device. Do it now.
got barrel, screen FX, winterboard, any ring, five icon switcher, five-column, five icon dock, activator, SB setting all work.
I know exactly what you're talking about, and I'm fixing it right now.
It has to do with the way AppCake is installed, depending on what source you're getting it from. If you're installing from repocydia.com then AppCake will also install along with AppSync for iOS 5+ which is NOT what you want.
Moreover, Cydia is very slow at the moment due to the high traffic, so not only will your downloads be extremely slow, but they'll frequently time out. This is VERY bad when it comes to installing AppSync, because you can't overwrite/patch the file that actually makes the Apps to sync.
Look out for my edit on this post in the next few minutes, I'll help you install it correctly if all goes well for myself.
EDIT: hold up, this is a pain
EDIT: tried PMing you but ur inbox is full, give me your skype/msn
