Hostsnake looked so good that i've registred there ;-)
20 gb disk space ;-) with 300 gb transfer ( i guess per year, but sweet anyway ).

My friend bought cheap paid host for 20 $ per year it's way worse than free hostsnake :s.

And how do these businesses stay viable?

Bandwidth costs money, they have to recoup that cost in some way. The only way it can be 100% free to its users is if someone else pays (like a charity's operations are funded with donations from private or corporate entities), and I find it highly unlikely that someone charitable would choose to support hosting of warez/porn/mp3z/etc when there are many more worthwhile causes out there... And you know that if a host provides fast, large-space hosting cheap or free, then that's what the vast bulk of its bandwidth will be used for.

darc they have paid versions as well, as most hosting companys. They provide free hosting with worse parametrs then their paid ones.

As for it cheapness or being free, i'm not goin to investigate the reasons why robin hood is doing what he's doing ;-).

it has a good panel and no lag :)

actually some years ago - (8 years ago)

there was a uk dial up isp that offered webhosting and free domain - glich/catch was you had to use their dial up to upload the site :)
