    [Help]New pc configuration

Heya, I wanna buy a new pc and I have about 1000euro for it. Living in romania and configured it at a shop named DC Shop, prices are in euro and are the best in my town. Any suggestions on what I could improve or change are welcomed.

    Procesor: INTEL CORE2 QUAD Q9300, LGA775, 2.50GHz, 1333MHz, 6MB, 45nm, BOX 230euro - the best processor they have

    Main board: Placa de baza ASUS P5E, IntelX38, LGA775, 4xDual channel DDR2 1200, 2xPCIEXP16x, 3xPCIEXP1x, 8CH, Gigabit LAN, IEEE1394, SATAII, ATA133, 1600MHz, ATX 171euro - one of the best.

    RAM memory: Memorie KINGSTON KVR800D2N5K2/ 4G DDR2 KIT 4GB (2x2GB) 800MHz 103euro I think 4GB is enough? or ?

Hard Disk: HDD SEAGATE 500 GB, 7200RPM, SATAII, 16MB, BARRACUDA 7200.10 85euro - Seagate or western? same price.

Video card: Placa video ASUS EN9800GTX/ HTDP_512, GEFORCE 9800GTX, PCI EXPRESS 2.0, 512 MB, 2xDVI, HDTV/ HDCP, TVO, SLI 350euro -this is a big question mark.. 9800GTX or 8800GT, some reviews rate the 8800 better but 9800 is newer [and more expensive] therefore..better?

    Case: CARCASA X-GEAR X-Blade CXB28K, 400W, PANOU LATERAL TRANSPARENT, 1xVENTILATOR 8CM/ 1xVENTILATOR 12CM, 2xUSB2.0/ 1xAUDIO/ 1xMIC/ 1xIEEE1394, NEAGRA 45euro -the case is just formal, Ive read that is has a good ventilation.

I already got a DVD-DL writer so I dont need one, neither I need a new display.

I am not that good [or at all] at configuring PCs so please don't laugh if I made some really bad choices. Nothing bought so far so it can be changed easily and stay in the budged which atm is at the max.

Firstly, why did you tell us how many EUROS you have to spend when all the prices are in RON? You expect us to go out of our way to convert them to help you?

Also you are assuming that expensive = better for some reason, must be for bragging rights cos if you really did need that powerful system you would know what parts to get. Also, are you sure those are the cheapest? By comparing the HDD and RAM prices to what you quoted the CPU as being, i can see they are roughly 3 times more expensive than what i buy.

CPU - get a q6600. cheaper, and practically the same, if you know how to overclock you can make it just as fast if not faster than the q9300.
RAM - do not get 2x2GB sticks, get 4x1GB sticks. It will be alot cheaper but slightly faster.
HDD - i'd go for seagate, just used them the longest and never had any problems.
GFX - depends on what monitor you have and what games you will be playing, though i love the 8800gt there is nothing wrong with it for playing most games on max.

    Re: [Help]New pc configuration

Well most of the time, expensive means better so...meh. And yes they are the cheapest, I looked everywhere, online shops or others but maybe you know some store that ships in romania with normal shipping prices so that I dont pay products + shipping more than the products in here. Also yeah I know it's weirdo to want to buy something expensive and don't know too much about it but I want to host a mini MMORPG server on it just for friends and I don't anything to lag => lots of RAM and a good CPU.

Yeah the Q6600 is about the same and way cheaper but I don't want to overclock anything because at my almost 24/7 pc uptime I don't want to risk at all a fried new pc.
I wanted to get a 4GB stick but they don't have an offer of it at the site and they should better have in stores -.-
The thing about Seagate is true, many people told me that.
The GFX card choosing is almost subjective since they perform really close to each other , but 9800GTX is newer but more expensive.

    Thanks for the support.

    PS: Prices in euro now.

    Re: [Help]New pc configuration

For the GFX cards. The 8800GT, 8800GTS 512mb, 9800GTX, and 9800GX2 are all the same chips the G92. The GT has a few shaders disabled. The GTS is the base unit. The GTX is an overclocked GTS. Finally the GX2 is two GTS under clocked.

If you compare the G92 core of the older G80 core of the 8800GTS 320/640mb, GTX, and Ultra then it's down to what you want them to do. The G92 does better at lower resolutions and lower settings due to the higher overall clocks. The G80 does a much better job when more settings are added and higher resolutions are used.

    NoPeace - out
