I want to save my self some money, and put my PC together myself. what im unsure of is how. and i was told if you bend one of the processor pins your processor is fucked?
Someone give me a Step-by-Step on how to do it without fucking up xD

google it man. How to build a PC!
you will get alot of results.
Yeah, i thought about Google. Decided i would like Help from someone from the RZ community. rather then some site. I would rather have Rish help me out rather then somesite made by a guy i have never talked to nor met.
Processors no longer have pins on them. The motherboard does.
Just look at several guides on the net, they'll all be mostly the same.
The two main things though, if it doesn't look like it will fit, it won't.
If it won't go in, don't apply more pressure or you'll break it.
Pretty much, unless you have a very very stable hand and a thin object to bend the pin back into place.
But its kinda hard to bend mobo pins, they're on a slant so unless you dragged something across them sideways they won't bend easily.
Good to know ^^. any other things i should be cautious about?
just be careful with it all, ground yourself before touching the components and think logically about where each part should be going. if it looks like it isnt going to fit dont force it
Only other tips I can think of is touch a metal part of the case as much as you can, this'll make sure you don't send a 10,000 volt static shock through your components.
And MAKE SURE you put the brass standoffs between the motherboard and the case backplate. If you don't you can expect that black/blue smoke of death.
Alright ^^. Now that i know this. When case and parts are orderd. i might order the case sometime soon from newegg. like sunday. buy it all peice buy peice. i have a shitty Job. so i cannot commit my self to saving it all up buy buying all at once.
Grocery Stores.. Sooo fun not xD
Anyway. im ordering the case prolly sunday
Well have you decided on a build and budget yet? No need for another thread, i can post some cheap specs here if u want - just need a budget and whats its going to be used for.
Also, if you are getting an AM2 then they still have pins :P Tho with the new motherboards, they have pins, but there are springs under them so like mazo said they are extremely hard to break. One thing you should do is read the manual first then go and do it; dont be afraid that you'll break your parts and handle them softly ect cos you'll end up with parts that fry cos they aren't in properly.
Basically, if it looks like it fits - then it does. Just make sure you first visually compare them properly to see if it will fit. Dont be afraid to apply a little pressure, some things don't go in easily but make sure it WILL fit before you do so or it will break. And the manual is your best friend; it can tell you exactly where everything goes, and especially where you need to connect all the usb and power / reset cables from the case onto the motherboard. Finally, as ram and mazo said, get a $5 grounding device to attach to your case or juts make sure ur touching it at all times, and with the same token always remember your PSU is unplugged before doing anything; i find doing that makes sure it is off as i sometimes forget to flick the switch and once fried my motherboard.
I did the same when i built my current PC :P
Bought case then mobo, then ram/cpu/psu/ect.

Theres the build budget between $900-1k USD cause ill need a Monitor still x]
Gaming and Web Building, the build was made by my friend who is giving me a PCI wireless net card, he made the offer to give it to me when i asked how much they costed, so yeah ^^. Saves me some money.
Well firstly, do you realize you have 2 rams there? a 1gb stick and 2x1gb :P
Secondly, i would not recommend that CPU cooler unless you are going to be overclocking, it is not needed as the stock coolers for the c2d's are pretty good (i'm still using mine and i've overclocked mine from 2.6 to 3.0).
i cant have 2 ram sticks? and i will prolly overclock it, not sure how, but thats beside the point for the time being. and since i will most likely overclock it. ill keep the cooler? or not?
Well that all depends if you are hell-bent on having a c2d and being able to multi task or if you just want a decent yet cheap gaming PC .
I mean you can get an AMD 4800+ for about $60 and a cheap AM2 motherboard for $50 (sounds dodgy but all it needs is sata ports, dual channel for 800mhz ram, onboard high def audio, and an nforce chipset preferably). 2gb RAM for $50, 500w PSU and a case for probably $100 combined, then get yourself a cheaper 80gb HDD to begin with and get the 500gb later on when you have more cash for extra storage. Add the GFX card and you got a really good gaming PC for about $450 (+ monitor/speakers/dvd drives/ect).
How much slower will it go than your setup? Well from what i have seen... about 10% decrease in performance. Thats all. And it costs you half. But its really up to you, i mean you can spend extra now and push your budget or you can get one that will be easier for you to afford, and you can upgrade later on when you have more money. Also, i highly advise AGAINST vista for a gaming PC - it will decrease performance and it lagged even with my setup (e6600 overclocked, 4gb ram, 8800gt). Can't go wrong with 64x xp pro.
And like i was saying about the CPU cooler, just use the stock one that come with it. They are great unless you want to overclock.
Building PCs are easy. Manuals help what come with the components.
Trouble is buying the right components to match all the system. Well if you buy the right stuff, manuals will help. All I know.
One thing I forgot to mention. If you want MUCH better audio quality and less strain on the CPU get an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer. I bought one for around
How does sounds card like that differ form on-board sound?
Onboard sound uses your CPU and hence puts more strain on it. Like mazo said, its good for surround sound since doing that on an onboard will give you performance loss. If you just have a simple speaker setup then it is useless, and impractical.
Am using a headset. I presume that doesn't work it too much.
I heard that building an old computer is harder then building a new computer becasue of the adjustments on the motherboard is that true?
