    [HELP!] Wireless adapter problems

I am trying to get my PC connected to a wireless network, as using a wire to connect it would be too dangerous and impractical.

The wireless adapter that I am using is called Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter and the model is WUSB54GS version 2.1.

I have done the Wireless Zero Configeration, and doing that actually made it so I could find a few lower signaled networks, but not my network which is actually the strongest.

The operating system I am trying to achieve this on btw is Windows XP.

Please help I need the wireless on my pc lol

What exactly is the issue, lol?

You can't see your network? You can't access it? Do you have the password?

Yes, it's the name of the network. Try just typing it in and seeing if it can pick it up. Otherwise your wireless antenna may not be powerful enough to detect the signal.

    Re: [HELP!] Wireless adapter problems

Let me get my head around this exact situation:

    - The wireless dongle on your PC does not detect the network you wish to join
    - It does however, pick up other networks in the area
    - Your PS3 is able to pickup and join the network you are trying to join on your PC

    Is that correct?

yes, my mobile also is able to detect the network.

Hrm, it could be a few things:

    1. Signal is too weak
    2. The dongle is in a bad location and the signal is being blocked
    3. Dongle may be on its way out if this issue also happens with other various networks
    4. The dongle may have a weak antenna or the antenna may be damaged

The fact that your dongle picks up other networks kind of rules out a software issue. The fact that your mobile and PS3 can pick up the network kind of rules out an issue with the network.

Those above 4 points are really all we're left with off the top of my head. Where exactly are you plugging the dongle in? If you're using the back USB ports, try the front ones? Tried using the same dongle on a different PC, connecting to the same network?

    Re: [HELP!] Wireless adapter problems

i dont have front ones, ever since i built the pc, connecting the front usb's were always on my to do list, and never got round to doing it lol. i think ill just run a really long wire from the router to my room then.
only solution, as buying a new one is definatly out of the question.
