I need games that can run in my pc - Geforce 5500 FX - New games

I have a trash computer:
P4 2.0 (not HT)
Geforce5500 FX - 256mb
640mb ram

Can you guys tell me some games, that were released recently (Not MMO), and that my pc is able to run?
But please, don't take the "minimum requeriments" serius. I mean, I can play games when my pc supposly couldn't according with Minimum requeriments.

The only real problem for my pc is: This card doesn't support Pixel Shader 3.0 (meaning I won't even be able to launch the game).
So, if the game needs just Pixel Shader 2.0, then it's fine.

Actually it's not. Pixel Shader 2 is very poorly supported by the FX series, even Nvidia admitted that (ofcourse much later when the 6 series came out)
Basicly you should avoid Shadermodel 2 games at all costs.

As for your question... they pretty much don't exist. All mainstream games will require a lot more from your PC then that it can offer. You should go back like 3 years atleast. The card is 5 years old, it's a budget card (not even a budget gaming card), and the FX series was completely shit really. So yeah...

I would strongly advice you to look up a newer card, i can understand that you don't want to do a whole PC upgrade, but what you could do is get a second hand Geforce 6 series card (6600GT atleast) or a Ati X series card like a X700 and higher.

My old PC still has 5200 and PC is 2Ghz P4 (same as yours I think). I can't run any new games except maybe COD4. Even then, it lags when theres smoke in-game.

I highly suggest you get 6800GT like Gohan mentioned. It's less than $50 where I live, so it shouldn't cost a lot. Plus, it's also compatible with mobo. However, your CPU might reach its bottleneck. So I'm not sure how that would work out.

why would anyone develop a fancy ass new game that has shaders optimized for 2.0 and then you dont even have the mid range card ( you may be tearing off your shirt and arguing that gf5500fx is mid range but midrange starts at 5600 or any *600 for the gf cards)

i suggest you go play runescape (yes a shoddy OLD MMO) or you can just wake up and go play somehting that will actually run on your box like say ?? OLD GAMES ?

another piece of advice i can throw at you and hope it will stick is use emulators > vgba, nes, snes, nintendo ds all have emulators look for them and look for roms.

Laugh as you might, because I'm in the same place as you are, except for the fact I'm getting a new computer in September. I run a 2.0GHZ P4, 768MB ram, and a ancient GeForce MX440. Heres a list of some games i can play fairly well, although you probably have already tried them at some point. You'll be able to play stuff more modern than me, but still, I'm just trying to help out. These arent exactly new games nor are they recent, but check them out.

Heres some i play with decent frame rates:

Games using the source engine (HL2, CSS, DODS etc)
UT2004
GTA Games (Lol, and not GTAIV)
COD 1 & 2
Dawn of war ( A couple of them)
Hitman 1, 2 and 3
Quake 4 (Great game)
SWAT 4

There would be plenty more than that, but all the same check them out if you havnt already.

Urgh I remember that card, Geforce 2 branded as a Geforce 4. Used to play planetside on it, and it was so bad that the BFR Shields were just pure white eggs, so every other second you'd be blinded by it if you were driving one.

Haha. Great to hear someone remembers the "good old days". There's no doubt about it, it does have some texture "issues". God try playing certain maps on CSS with it. The models for the characters end up with a black checkered pattern on them, or they have a bright green overlay on them. Its annoying at times, but the funniest thing is, that card, which was made in like 1998, still puts shit on my Toshiba Portege M500, which is only like a year and a half old. Goddamn Intel integrated graphics * stabs his integrated 945GM with a knife *. Good for nothing shit.
