Multi media cable for my laptop

    Hey,

I'm just wondering if there exists some kind of cable/box where you can plug all your cables into and then plug into your computer?

    Why?
Well lets say you have a laptop and you have a work station. You want to use your laptop everywhere and want to plug/unplug it from your work station alot and fast. Then its really annoying to unplug a HDMI cable, keyboard, mouse and the charger. And then plug it in when your done.

So some kind of cable/device/box would be much more handy.. If it even exists.

Yeah, it's called a docking station.

For a desktop PC, no such thing exists, and is commonly used in businesses for laptops

To be honest, back when laptops first came out, they actually did have official docking bays for them. You opened your laptop, and pushed it into an actual dock with a COM port, Power, and everythign else. Nowadays, since HDMI/USB have been out, it really is much less of a hassle to deal with.

The quickest way to do things is via HDMI, make sure your monitor has multiple outputs, and use HDMI for both devices.. that way you can have an extra HDMI cable laying around for your laptop. I run two monitors currently (40" Slim LED Samsung, and a 28" Samsung LCD) and I routinely plug my LCD into my laptop to run in tandem with my main computer.

Also, another thing that I use heavily for work currently as an IT Admin, are Logitech's wireless keyboard/mice. I use a Trackball Mouse and Logitech Wave keyboard for work.. and they use a micro size USB plug for both of them. No cables, I just leave the USB plugged in when I move things around. That way I just take out the keyboard and mouse and am good to go. All I have to do is plug in my PDF Scanner, Cat5, HDMI and Power.

    Logitech Wireless Keyboard
    Logitech K350 Black Keyboard - Newegg.com

This is the wireless receiver that both devices come with.. they share the same 2.4GHz frequency, and each dongle can accept up to 6 wireless devices.
