    New Build

Since I've got some cash now thought I'd run over the new setup & see what you think of it.

    Case: Antec P180 -

    Some spare cash?
    Dude, you're friggin' loaded!

I tried overclocking my processor on my old computer, wrecked it up so much, the computer started, then shut back down :sq_yellow.

    Re: New Build

    You could say that .

Only overclocked my GFX before (which was pointless since CPU/RAM bottlenecked it) but been reading a lot on CPU/Motherboard and doesn't sound too daunting, the motherboard comes with uguru software too which is helpful.

i think the cpu is holding you back as well, but in all i think you have done a good job. just gotta get the newer ram and better cpu and you should be flying high. Also nice choice for graphics card.

Aye but it's really all I can afford at the moment, and seeing as im currently using an AMD 939 3000+... It'll be a huge improvement.

After building going to save up for a bit more and get either a E6600 or 6850 with Scythe or Artic Freezer 7 for better OC'ing.

Save money by getting a different case and get a better CPU/RAM with that. It is a HUGE case which is mainly for servers.

    Re: New Build

I know it's huge , sitting right next to me and have always wanted this case. I would get a better CPU/RAM but atm I'm on a budget and cannot go over it so I'd rather have a mediocre (yet amazing compared to my current) PC and then upgrade it later. Just wondering if there's anything for the same price range that you'd advise.

Not that bad of a system. But can't you just get a cheaper mobo and get better RAM instead. Since the biggest weakness in your system is your RAM and when you start to OC it will cause you headaches.

    Re: New Build

Take any P35 mobo (I would take Gigabyte DS3 since I got one myself) and atleast 6400 RAMs. If you get the 21xx models you gotta get the M0 stepping, the L2 really suck att OCing but if you wanna put in a little more cash buy a E4300-E4600, it got 2mb cache.

Edit: If you gonna go with the E2180 you wont need faster RAM. They are specced to 333Mhz (667) and with a multipel of 10 on the E2180 you will probably not even reach 3330Mhz on stock cooling.

    Re: New Build

Problem is I can't afford to spend any more and I already have the RAM. For me it's easier to upgrade the RAM & Processor than the motherboard, unless there is a big difference between the IP35 Pro and a cheaper model (could only find a review on the DS3L) then I'd prefer to keep it and upgrade CPU & RAM later, then overclock.

    Re: New Build

Sounds good then! I've got an E2140 in my other comp and I can OC it pretty good with stock cooler! If you can find a mobo with P965 chipset it could be cheaper. They are pretty good for OCing too :)
