    Overclocking AMD Athlon64 3200+

    Ok...
    As the title say...
I'm seeking for advices of the oc guru out there...
I'm using AMD Athlon64 3200+ as my processor and Nforce4M-A as my mobo...
And I also have 4gb of Trancend memory ddr2 800 with heat spreader...
And i also have nVidia Geforce 8400 GS as my vc...
Now what I want to know is how to get the most of my system??
Can you guyz give me some tips on how??
    Thanks!!~

A64 doesn't support DDR2 does it? Anyhow get a good CUP cooler and RAM and hope your mobo will hold. If not, get a new computer. A C2D system for overclocking is cheap right now.

The newer 939 boards support DDR2 iirc. Anyway, I wouldn't really upgrade a processor like that cause like linkink said it's probably better to get a C2D system. They aren't really that expansive anymore, and the performance gain from a 'average' C2D system over that S939 rig is immense.

    s939 = DDR
    AM2 = DDR2

Read basic overclocking guides. There are tons that you can find on the internet with google.

Thanks for the fast reply guyz...
I replaced my 1gb of ram to 4gb (2 sticks of 2gb) that has heat spreader...
    Now...
I'm planning to replace my 512 vc to 1gb vc...
    And I'll over clock it...
    Would that be ok??

What's the make, model, voltage, timings, and default speed of your ram?

    http://www.transcend.com.tw/support/..._09-2345_S.pdf
Do you think I can oc it??
And also when I looked @ my system properties it says that I only have 3.5 GB of RAM...
    Why is it so??

Problably because you run a 32-bit OS.

AMD Athlon is just like the Intel Core 2 Quad, so what's the point of overclocking it?

    ...What.

They are nothing like each other. And even the Q6600 gets bottlenecked by a single 8800GTX until you hit around 3.6Ghz from what I can tell.

Cause when I'm playing RF online...
When I'm playing CW (Chip Wars)...
    My computer goes super slow...
That's why and also for multi tasking...
    You know...

You can't use it since 32-bit OS can only handle up to 4gb RAM including the graphics card.

So do I have to use 64-bit os??
If so what's the max for 64-bit os??

MS Vista Home 64-bit 8 GB
MS Vista Home Prem 64-bit 16 GB
    MS Vista Bus/Ent/Ult 64-bit 128 GB

(May be wrong, if so, I'll correct my post after someone informs me)

If you don't mind the money, then I say go for it. Just be sure to research them pretty well. They can work wonders.

I myself have the Antec 900 gaming case. It keeps my computer very cool -- to the point where I'm not going to invest into water cooling until I really need to.

    Re: Overclocking AMD Athlon64 3200+

i have this friend who was lucky with his athlong 64 3200 anc dould push it to 2500 mhz on stock voltage and with rather shitty cooling.

read some case reviews before tou buy to make sure youu buy a case that pleases your eye and your pc ;)

i was looking at antec 900 but decided to get coolermaster cm 690 as there kinda is more room and the hdds slide out from the side rather than arkvardly back into the case.

    Re: Overclocking AMD Athlon64 3200+

My brother end up getting the Coolermaster CM 690 for himself, and it is definately more roomy, as well as costs less, but you can find rebates for it pretty easily and use wire ties to fix cable management issues and provide a bit more room. They're both great cases, but right out of the box the 900 is able to push out more air and is sexier (imo). Also, it doesn't have buttons on the side like the 690, which makes me happy since side-buttons can be annoying depending on where you put your case. Plus, the 200mm TriCool exhaust fan is nice. The out-the-front HDD cages are actually very easy to use and the top tray is a pretty nice feature. I currently have a stuffed animal monkey sitting on my tray, showing off its leetness.

Anyways, Austh, if you had questions regarding watercooling, there have many topics on it before, here's one--
