ATI nvidia flame war cleaned out. There's another thread for that.

Anyway don't you think you should advice 2 gig in that last system?
Gamers need more graphics power then RAM. There will be other systems for that price range that'll have more ram and different stuff. That's just the "Gamer" comp and there'll be other ones like multimedia and others.

There'll be others. Developer, multimedia, etc. Just give me some time =P

Hmm.. maybe here is an idea for yoru builds.. on each one you do...

since Vista is coming out soon and pretty much requires at least 2 gigs of ram, if not more.. maybe put a second price quote for an upgrade to 2 gigs of RAM for each build you have made, or put a seperate list for RAM prices and how much it costs for 2 gigs of mid range, and 2 gigs of high end RAM, let the prospective buyers see the average cost of upgrading it to a wellfull amount.

I was planning on adding a section for "Entertainment/Media PC", "Developer PC", and "Upgrades & Accesseries." Just wait. I didn't get back from college today until 10pm and don't have the effort to do these guides on top of my work at the moment. More will come tomarrow when I have the time. =P

Gamers will be needing 2 gig soon, infact in some of the current games 2 gig is not a luxury.

You have to understand that people have no clue themselves, and build a PC from your reccomendation, will likely be people who use it 2-3 years without any upgrading, 2 gig is now a bit much, but not a waste, but in 1-2 years it will be really neccasary.
Ofcourse they can upgrade their memory then, but as you know they would need 2x512 then, which would mean all their banks are filled, so no expanding then without replacing it all, and it would need to be the same memory to get the optimum speed with dual channeling, while with getting 2 gig now, you can avoid all that trouble.

Erm forcy mate wouldnt developer be stuff like dreamweaver and the adobe suite (not really counting photoshop i guess)?
But with a developer you can run cs2 fine with a $50 (aud) card (Radeon 9250 128meg - even though its crap it still runs stable and fine with cs2 and stuff).

Yeah developers don't need a good VGA. But they do need lots of RAM and powerful CPU's.

That's just stupid. An Athlon 64 3000+ is cheaper then a 3ghz P4 and is even less money. But thoes processors only should be in the sub $800 rage.

Are you saing a Core 2 Duo is a PD? Or are you saing a P4 is a PD? In eitehr case you are wrong.

A PD is 2 P4's on the same chip. A Core 2 Duo is something completely different. It's an enhanced version of 2 PM on the same chip.
