i have not ordered the parts yet, but i am tomorrow night. i want to know if each part will connect and fit to the next. almost all of the parts were from rishwin's desktop assembly guide, but i wasn't too sure on each one. at first i had laptop memory instead of desktop memory, but i figured that out and switched it.
the case, gpu, psu, memory, motherboard, & the processor.
Yup they will all fit together, i'm a lazy sod so the guides are a little outdated but for under $400 yea that's a decent enough machine.
Also for the GPU - PowerColor AX7750 1GBK3-H Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Newegg.com here's a powercolor branded same model which a) is a little cheaper & b) comes with Farcry 3.
Also do note you're missing a hard drive & optical drive but they're not major parts.
the thing is I wanted to take the hard drive from one of the two desktops i already own, if that's possible? do i need an optical drive to do anything?
Optical drive to install OS & games but i haven't had one in a PC I've owned for over 5 years, you can install Windows from USB & games i digitally purchase.
As long as they are SATA drives then yea using an old HDD won't be a problem. It's it's an old PATA with a ribbon-cable then you're better off having it replaced.
ah, great. well i just hope everything works out and i don't mess up putting the parts together. i've never done it before, but i've got confidence.
General rule of building - Things belong where they seem to fit. If it looks like it fits perfectly, then it probably belongs there. If it doesn't, don't force it & look for a better-matching slot.
okay, so everything is scheduled to be delivered on either monday or tuesday. i took the hard drive out of the old desktop and the cd drive, the hard drive is a western digital 80gb sata model. is that going to work out right for me?
Yea i mean you won't win any performance awards with that HDD but if it's fully functioning it will do the job just fine.

I suggest you go to your local computer warehouse (whatever) and get a 2nd HDD 110GB for $40 US
make sure you have a dual drive cable
