Recommended wordpress resources.

I'm the VP marketing for my student council in Uni and we need another website made this year. They've changed a few rules around and now I need to use my schools hosting. The previous webpage I simply uploaded a Wordpress theme and had it all setup from there. Do you guys have any recommendations for wordpress resources that you've personally used or know of.

Wordpress is horrible. Go joomla or drupal, both are also horrible but they are better than wordpress :/
