The hack does nothing for you in a game.

The only game i've seen this on is Crysis; with the DX10 hack allows you to use a higher game setting eg:

Low
Medium
High
Ultra High

Dust partilcles, lighting quality and shading quality will just be the same as in DX9 though.

It will try to use a DX10 engine, since it can't, it will revert to DX9, so there's absolutely no point
It can't use something that is not really there.
