Check out Start8, you get all the advantages of a faster Windows, extra features etc, while you can ignore metro, or use it as a second interface or whatever.

Windows 8 with Start8 is simply superior in every way to Windows 7.

I don't have windows 8, but have used it at my friends houses and at stores.
I feel that it is a great new way to look at windows, but I prefer that it only be fore touchscreen computers and tablets. As it is not as comfortable to use when all you have is a touchpad or mouse. I wish that windows8 will be different for tablets and for pc's.

Here my experience with Windows 8 so far:

I decided to upgrade to Windows 8 Friday evening, the upgrade process itself went smoothly.
So all good, I booted into Windows 8 and got to the desktop. First thing I noticed is that I couldn't access most of my fav sites.
I then found out that I could only access IPv6 sites and even What is my IPv6 Address? showed my IPv6 address. I disabled IPv6 and then I couldn't access anything.
My network adapter said that IPv4 had internet access and that IPv6 had no internet connection. Weird shit.

So after a lot of bullshitting around I decided to do a fresh install > after the new fresh install both my monitors turned black when Windows 8 tried to load to the desktop.

Fresh install again > finally worked.

Weird stuff, never had any of those problems, did 3 installs myself and I know a couple of others who installed it as well, they had no problems either.

Sometimes it's all down to dumb luck, computers are in the end still so very unpredictable.

I used Windows 8 for a few months but had to revert back to Windows 7. Don't get me wrong, I did like it - but it really didn't suit me. I'm a guy who likes minimalism and simplicity so the design didn't really fit me. I also kept hitting the little window at the top left and it'd take me to something that I didn't want, but that was purely my error.

There are absolutely massive amounts of mistakes made by people in software, hardware etc, all of this causes an endless amount of possibilities. Without knowing the mistakes made, you cannot predict what will happen.

In the end computers are unpredictable because we made them imperfect.

When I first installed Start8, I didn't mess around with the settings much. As I was using it, I found a lot of things I didn't like about it. I then looked into the settings and found a configuration for every single thing I didn't like.

It's super editable! It definitely makes Windows 8 a lot better.

Yeah it works great, it even got my brother to buy W8, he was hating on it the second he saw it for the first time. Now he's enjoying the few minor improvements (his system is so fast, that he doesn't even notice the increased speeds on his SSD etc)

As of yet it's almost completely useless.
You can make window borders transparent but the blur effect is not available so it only makes it uglier :/

When I had Windows 7 I had the blur effect off xD

So this works just fine for me.
