I actually really like it. The only reason I am keeping W7 installed is for some of the games I can't be bothered to transfer them :P

I think if people give Windows 8 a go they would probably like it and maybe find it easier than Windows 7. I don't have a touch screen but I love the modern interface.

You will probably find that on some laptops like mine with the "Synaptics Touchpad" thing, they have done some stuff with the software so you can use the swipe in and other features on the touchpad. For example, I can swipe in from the right and the charms bar appears as if it was being done on a touch screen. It makes it a bit easier for getting around quickly.
now install it on a desktop, windows 8 would great for LAPTOPS, TABLETS, PHONES. <--these are smaller less usefull "item" that can do less then a desktop computer, and will never be really counted as "AAA" gaming harware.

My sister thinks Windows 8 is horrid. Anyway I can convince her?
Depends, how old is she? :P

It's not my personal review, but my friend's relatively technologically adapted. He knows his shit.
While each is entitled to their opinion, I can't really take it seriously.

The problem with a lot of computer addicted people (and I'm not talking about internet users and gamers, I'm talking about people who make it their whole life to know everything about PC's), is that they are the most resilient of all when new things come out. These are usually the people who trash something before even giving it a chance. Even if they use it, they just cry and cry about it because it's not what they are used to.
These are the people who've actually been whining about things every single step, they complained about moving from DOS to Windows, they complained when XP came out and DOS was basically gone etc. Every time a change was made, they cried. Now with Metro there is a major change, and on the PC site I regular, I've seen dozens and dozens of PC nerds crying their heart out about Windows 8. Of course the majority had not even tried it. Now that they do try it, they have so much hatred for it, that they will need years before they accept it.

This was me until I tried it for more than one sitting. I usually don't like change in computers.

I would have been more resistant myself, if it wasn't that I was already using metro and had all my stuff integrated and sorted on my MS account. That plus Start8.

So I can definitely understand that people do not feel like trying it and all, especially not for proper desktop use, but yeah with some trying out, tweaking a bit and setting it up properly, it's quite nice.

Well it's certainly not "tracking everything you do" that much i can guarantee. There may be some things which are tracked, but it's nothing personal or sensitive and nothing you aren't already being subjected to by any other vendor or your ISP.

    Rishwin:

What do you think about Chrome OS that are being used on their laptops.

I personally think that the OS is pretty nice, however i don't see the point using them actually for school, when i personally think that they are meant to be used for business and what not use, rather then school, because all the normal things i did on the normal computer at school am i not even able anymore to do because we're always at the chromebooks.

Go make a topic about Chrome OS if you want to discuss it.

    Inb4 DionZ has Windows 2000.
Trolol, but seriously, Windows 8 is just ugly imo. The retro start menu isn't even the start of it.

This coming from manufacturers who are still producing sub 1080p monitors, when sodding tablets are at 1600p now. It sickens me every time I see some company trying to sell a laptop without a 1080p screen, I mean really, wtf?

Monitor manufacturers are just pretty crap imo. Don't get me started on the lack of OLED monitors! They are probably the slowest component creators to innovate, or rather go from innovation into mass market.

Touchscreens are pretty fail on any non-mobile device anyway, and I'd argue a hardware keyboard is far better than a software one on a mobile device too. The fatigue alone makes touchscreen simply unworkable in any serious environment. The only situation I can think of it being useful is in note taking and drawing, and for those situations you want a stylus anyway. Touchscreen simply aren't productive, so companies aren't going to be buying them, and so manufacturers won't really be interested in them anyway (plus no businesses are getting win8 so they aren't needed for that either!)

    @Razer

    Not sure if trolling, or....

Anyway, yes i do have an Windows 2000 Disk here for you, you may lend it but i do want it back..

No i do not have Windows 2000 on my computer i have Windows 7 on my computer sir.....

Anyway I'll always be using Windows 7, I've also heard on the news that Windows XP users are going to have a lot of trouble, due the holes that are in there thus obviously having the chance of being hacked

(If they know who are using it and who are not)

If you can't recognize that "Trolol" is signifying trolling then I don't even..
And it's nothing to do with being hacked, you can get "hacked" in all Windows Operating Systems using RATs..

XP won't suddenly have security issues because of Windows 8's release.

    Ah well okay.

Well I've heard on the news that Windows XP users are being adviced to step over to the newer Windows because of the holes that are currently into Windows XP.

My mom also explained that hackers are able to make new holes in Windows XP.

I don't really know if people can't or can get hacked i don't have the sufficient knowledge for that so maybe someone who does know anything about it can give a little bit of a good explanation towards this,
