    Upgrade Support

    Ok my current system is:

CPU: Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo
    GPU: EVGA 8800GTS 640MB
    RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 4GB
    MB: EVGA 680i SLI ATX

I want to know what would be the best improvement for my system...

I was also looking at the new intel E8400 which features the new 45 nanometers technology. I see that it is 3.0GHz and a 6MB L2 cache. I was thinking of either that or the Q6600. I am getting my tax refund so I need to upgrade. Thx.

You don't need an upgrade. That PC will last you for years to come.

I honestly wouldn't recommend upgrading, would just be a complete waste of money for minimal benchmark improvements. As for the E8400, from the reviews it seems like an amazing CPU with great OC abilities and I'm looking forward to owning one in the future.

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. Although I am running on windows xp pro 32-bit and does not recognize all of my ram so I will just get the 64-bit version.

Wait until March and the 9850 series.. or wait until a little bit after that, when the G100 comes out.. save up, and go SLI with the G100's, then youll be ahead of the game for a long time. Until then, your computer is just fine as is :-)

Unless, if youw ere like me.. I've been lookign at purchasing another 2 500gb drives here soon, replace my 320 with a 500, and add anotehr 500 onto it.

Actually the next card is 9800x2 :1:

And for the G100s. I would hate to see how much CPU power is needed to push two of those cards. You are looking at about 4 teraflops of power in those GPUs. There's going to be major bandwidth issues.

As for what to get. Don't bother with getting a faster dual core. Just overclock yours if you want one. The only CPU upgrades you should consider is going to a quad. Which would either be the E6600 or the 9650 when they come out.

And you can always upgrade the GPU. A 8800GT would be a good upgrade of spend some more and get the new 3870X2 card which is actually quite amazing. $450 and it destroys the 8800 Ultra which costs $600-700.

Other then that just increase your HDD capacity.

I myself will be upgrading my PC soon. Going to go to 8gb of OCZ ram as it's dirt cheap. Only costs about $170 for 4x 2gb 800mhz @ 5-6-6-17. Not bad at all. And also I need more storage. Got 700gb total and about out of space. So going to get dual 500gb drives to add to my server and start storing stuff there. Then also going to upgrade that server from an old 2.8ghz P4 northwood to either an EE 4000+ or a Celeron Conroe-L as they are lower power and good CPUs.

    NoPeace - out
