I think it looks great. I'm running the pro version on VMWare and I really like it actually. It comes with a lot of build in features which previous versions of windows didn't have and I really lik how they are combining pc, tablet, Xbox and phone to work all together.

I'll be waiting for windows 8 to mature a bit, buy an SSD and then upgrade to the Pro version. Until then Ill keep it on my virtual machine.
I'll have to agree with you on this...I installed the actual release of 64bit Pro on my comp yesterday using Windows 8 dual boot option, which by the way is an awesome feature, and it does run much smoother with alot less resources than my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

I heard somewhere that the Win 8 Enterprise edition will allow you to do alot more with Metro than Pro does...might want to wait for it :)

HAHAHAHAHAHA run as your MAIN OS. VMWare doesnt count, lol wtf, 90% different to running on an pc.

I'm not writing poetry, I'm replying to a forum post. It might index faster for you, but my PC is not exactly new and I couldn't care less.
gotta love the background indexer when playing games, make games run faster. -.-
gonna wait till someone come up with auto start desktop mode, makes start menu revert to the normal one, so i dont have to ever see it again, unless im turning my pc off or want CMD, witch is what normaly happens. unless your not a power user.

and the mouse was stolen so we could do things fast/better, and also play AAA games.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA" How is it 90% different to running on a* pc? A virtual machine essentially provides you a pc to run your stuffs on, so it is 90% the same as running a pc. The only difference is that this virtual pc is virtual.

Some of you act as if you're a Microsoft CEO mad that people have their own opinion as to how they prefer to interface with their computer/how they like it to look.

I'm not speaking for everyone, just myself. Some people might like the big blocks, that's fine. I hate it and it will make me feel like an idiot who can't read - like I need a giant visual representation just to execute a program.

Also I'm comfortable/faster with hotkeys + command lines as opposed to visual things like icons and docks and such. I'm not opposed to change, it's just why would you change something that works well? I can answer that, it's because Microsoft knows 90% of people using a computer are not totally technoligically inclined, so they'll favor the larger percentage and alienate everyone else, besides screw the technoligically inclined, they're probably the ones pirating windows.

For example, how many people have trouble using an Xbox 360 with it's large visual blocks? none, my grandfather can do it without help. Put him in front of Windows 95/98/XP/7/Vista/Linux without help and he's lost.

VM doesn't even use proper drivers to emulate your graphics and stuff...it's nowhere near as efficient as running as main OS even with guest addons installed...

Virtual machines are completely independent from their underlying physical hardware. For example, you can configure a virtual machine with virtual components (eg, CPU, network card, SCSI controller) that are completely different from the physical components that are present on the underlying hardware.

The graphical window that a Virtual PC uses as a screen is not compatible with a high performance video card. Modern video cards contain 3-D graphics processing units - in effect little computers that handle high-performance graphics tasks. Most current Virtual PC's don't have the ability to emulate this feature. As a result, sophisticated software that relies on such abilities is not going to work very well in a Virtual PC. Many 3-D action games, for example, run very slowly on virtualized hardware.

incorporates a BIOS that allows you to install an Operating System into each new Virtual PC.

Each Virtual PC behaves exactly like a Physical PC except that it must share the disk space, mouse, keyboard and other resources.

    i mean nothing.... -.-

Yes, indeed. Its only a simulation and its completely virtual but that guy did say "90% different to running on a pc" which i totally disagree, because virtual machines were made to simulate a real pc.

Re: Why Windows 8 Scares me

I've been using Windows 8 since the first public BETA release and since then it has been my main OS just for one thing. Now I'm running Windows 8 Pro.
All of the programs/games and things, works exactly the same as they did in Windows 7 and I'vent experienced any driver or incompatibility issue... yet. Since I don't have any of those problems I went just for test the new UI and after a few minutes I figured it out how it worked WITHOUT the need of researching it online. I agree the Metro thing isn't really "windows" since all applications run on fullscreen and you CAN'T overlay anything on top (that's why it was called windows when microsoft created it) BUT there's a REALLY BIG icon that says "Desktop" and when you logon you only need to press enter to get to the Desktop.

Another thing I just love is the new SEARCH ENGINE (finally it does search FAST AND PROPERLY), so when I want to open Photoshop, Sublime, or anything installed on my computer I just press the Windows key and type "pho" and just hitting the Enter key it's open (takes you less than a second if you type really fast).
Nobody mentioned that Aero Glass is completely gone, so the style is really flatten and simple, another thing I liked.
I don't see why everyone is bitching at the changes, and for those who says is for games and facebook is.. just wrong. I use Windows 8 Pro for work and it's very comfortable specially for the speed I open programs thanks to the new integrations.

PD: Before anyone start complaining about my grammar, I do NOT speak english.
