This name is to normal because there is the risk that you mix windows 7 up with windwos 8.

sick windows 8. zzz i'm just using windows 7 ultimate licensed worth around 320$ then windows 8 will come in 2012., hakhak much better if they name it WINDOWS XXX ahahaa...

why do they gotta keep releasing crappy operating systems like windows vista and windows 7, they are all the same thing.
They're crappy only if they run on a crappy PC.
I really doubt any of this is valid information, there were so many rumors floating around the net at the beginning of development for windows 7. Seems as if Microsoft is just using windows as a new money making scheme releasing a new os, every year or so.
