Yah I have 4gb and I'm running a 32bit Vista and it only shows that I have 3gb 3.18 (3262 MB)
A 64bit would show most of it but it also poses some problems with some programs.

It will only "take" as much RAM as it has onboard. Basically the BIOS assigns that RAM first, taking up 640mb of the total 4gb in this case, which should leave you with a lot more than 2.75GB
It would take 640mb out of 3,25GB.
That would make it 512mb RAM though.
You can check your bios for it.
Exact same problem here. I have 4 x 1GB memory and only showing 2.75. MY older graphics card is using only 256MB according to bios. It seems a bit odd that 2.75 is the going rate for RAM for everyone using XP who hasen't yet figured out how to tweek the settings. I know that some people are getting XP to recognize 3.4GB, but I've yet to find someone that can tell me how. Yea, 2.75 is plenty for XP, but we all want our stuff to be maxed-out. Vista is highly irritating. 64 bit = whole box of new problems.
Its your PCI devices that are taking up that chunk of RAM.. Windows reserves it on windows boot for whatever you need set. What is yoru pagefile by chance? I'm guessing its fairly low? Try giving windows a fresh format, its probably hogging up too much with several applications. I myself have 4 GB, and windows is recognizing 3.25 of that. The best way to fix any problem in windows you are ocncerened about.. is to give it a format, start form scratch.. and then I'm pretty sure you'll see that improvement your looking for.
Don't bump old threads. If you want to access 4gb of RAM or more then you need to get yourself a 64-bit OS. So if you want a 64-bit Windows based OS then your only option is Vista.
