Grunge sigs don't look good...
I used grunge because she's grungy.
You could've done a lot of other things with that render. Only use grunge if you know what you're doing. The best of sigs are abstract, vector etc.
Work with your render. Play around with filters. Use some C4Ds, stocks, brushes (but don't over do it), pen tool etc.

Don't mind him, he's limited to what he can say :) Just learn as much new stuff as possible. If you follow a grunge signature tutorial, only use the method for one or two signatures, then find something new vise versa.
His comments tick me off, he should leave helping comments. Even if my signature sucks, he should give me advice to make it better, instead of saying 'crap'. Or maybe he shouldn't even give advice, considering his are no better.

The render and tha background's colors don't go too well together. I know this is your first t ime making a sig in a while, so i won't pick out the flaws and errors.
A few ways you could make it better would be to make it lighter and more visible, blend the render more, add som e lighting and try to add some effects in too.
