lol this is funny all my backgrounds look so bad cause my photoshop is pissin me off every time i try to get new brushes they fuckin never show up in my photoshop buwhahahah thats why i usually stick to no brush backgrounds

it's a little better if i look at first work's but , its still looks worse...
use grunge brushes , with abstract brushes ;)
