Re: [Feedback] Hailstone Images Website
Dear LilKaos,
First page,
Your first page is what attracts people to your site. If this page fails to inspire you will instantly lose peoples attention before they have even started. The bland black image seems generic and has no real wow factor or actually worth to it. Remember your intro page is the key to success if you plan to have one.
Main Page,
The main page is again very bland with no real focal point. Use your own photos to bring to life your website. Lets take the current image you have used with your main page [university work one]. You could have easily added a slight brick effect that faded out from the picture it self blending the picture and the site into one. Rather than the current option where the picture just seems to be a space filler.
Picture Size,
Try to keep your preview pictures the same size. There is many tools and software that will do this and help your work seem more professional. Take for an example lightbox. Next is the inability to see the full size image. In photography the attention to detail is the whole point. When you only show small images that are more likely about 80% the size of the origanal. It fails to show perspective customers the quality of your work in full.
Image Explanation,
It would be a good idea to have a short discription or title for each image. This will give the people looking at your work an idea or a basis of what you was trying to produce. Aswell as giving an idea it can actually help to keep a user looking at your work longer and thinking making them more likely to actually come back.
Finally,
Dont be afriad to pay some one or even ask some one to creat a site for you. Yes a portfolio is an extension of your self but a portfolio also has to be a viable source to help forward your carear. With this said I can only say these things.
• Is your site a viable source that will help your carear.
• Is your site an extension of you or just the best you could do with your own ability [You do photography so its not a big deal if your not the best webdesigner in the world and ask for help]
• Are you actually happy with the final look or have you settled.
[Please do not take this as a bashing on your work]
This is simply me making a point in regards to the work you have posted.
Trying to help you in the best way I know how.
