I cant tell that he drew the character or not, Saying the entry nº1 is just a face is like saying that RZ is just another vbulletin forum (by saying this, I mean that the entry is just a stock and effort was not put into it)

Unskilled? my opinion on art doesn't determine my skill

Also, your not judging how they made it but the outcome. I personally like the second one because the text / way its done.,

Also becca is right to, i can tell that the first one is just a face from some anime with textures and styling on top. The other one I haven't seen so atleast he either took the time to draw it or atleast find something original.

Not even 2 days and the names are already out in the open lol.
(Not that it would be hard to tell who made it, but still, kinda takes the fun out of it, o well.)

I'm sorry if my design does not live up to expectation, I just never think of complex c4ds and detailed lighting techniques when I think of Anime and Manga; I think of simplicity. The appeal of the Japanese art style (for me) is how much you can achieve with some simple lines and a very small color palette, and for this reason, I applied the same simplicity in my piece here (and yes, the render is my character design).
