Very dark and monotonous (if that's a word).
You should learn about brushing or get some textures off the net, they'll do wonders beyond this (as far as 'wonders' can get in sigs, :P).
Filtering just doesn't cut it anymore. Well, at least this one doesn't.
Nice try though, I'm guessing you used Photoshop? How new are you to the program? :)
It's like staring into a pool of crude oil and watching the ripple in it move around.

Try putting the character layer on top of the grid, see what it looks like. It might not look any better, but it never hurts to try.
