heres a quick tutorial on borders,
step 1.
press ctrl+a this will select your whole image
step 2.
right click, then go down to "stroke..." click this option
step 3.
make sure it says 1 px in the width box, then choose a colour. and make sure the location says inside.
step 4.
click ok
job done.
